Why we did not celebrate Valentine's Day

The day 14th February is famous in the world as “Valentines’ Day.”  Youth especially those who consider themselves “modern” enthusiastically express their love and shower their beloveds with flowers, love letters and the like.  They claim that this is the day of love and every person who has a heart celebrates this day and those who don’t, have stones in their bosoms instead of hearts.  They are stopping people from spreading love in this world.

These are the words of those people who do not realize what exactly Valentine’s Day is and its harms.  Only such unaware and ignorant people can invite people to harm with such intellectual talk.

We can test the benefits and harms of it from 2 viewpoints:  The worldly viewpoint and the hereafter viewpoint.

If someone celebrates Valentine’s Day as a custom of the world, then we should see what benefits accrue to our life from it and to humanity in general.  In this light, Valentine’s Day is nothing but a rite of immodesty and promotes nothing but lewdness.  Just think of it:

·        On Valentine’s Day, all other useful engagements are forgotten.

·        This custom smears and spoils etiquette and character.

·        This is the day when youngsters have lewd meetings with each other, such meetings that neither a brother will like it nor a father will accept it.

Alas that educated people should label this lewd day as a day of love!

If Valentine’s Day is a love, then why are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, friends, etc. not included in this love?  If the aim is to spread love per se then do one’s own relatives and friends not deserve that love?

Apart from the fact that this and such days are being used to impose the culture of the west on us and to render us unaware and careless of our own culture, there are many other evils in this day as well.  It is like a vortex of lewdness and indecency.  Those who get stuck in it can never steer clear of it.

Now those who value the customs of their faith and country and desire that the society doesn’t turn into a den of indecency and vice, they are perfectly right in not celebrating Valentine’s Day and perfectly right in not supporting it either.
