Unity and love

Unity is possible only when one considers himself/herself the lowliest of all and whatever hurt one faces, one considers it from Almighty Allah.  Only then will this Base Self become obedient.

Through faith and good deeds, Almighty Allah created love and unity.  Strengthen your faith and make a point of performing good deeds, automatically, true unity will be created.  Unity without them is only a structure, which doesn’t have the soul of unity.

Among the excellences mentioned about those who love each other only for the sake of Almighty Allah, is that on the frightening Day of Reckoning, Almighty Allah will tell those sincere beings:  O you who love each other for My sake!  You are gratified with Me and I am pleased with you.  Today, your place is under My throne.

Mutual love should be for the sake of Almighty Allah.  For this love, it is necessary that even if something untoward happens, this love should remain undisturbed.  One should mend relations and purify one’s hearts.

One shouldn’t be displeased if someone points out the defects of the self.  The one who is loved is teased as well.  First, we should check whether the said flaw is actually present in us or not.  If it is not there, then one should thank Almighty Allah that although people think about me in such a manner, before my Lord, I am not so.  If that flaw is actually present, then one should remove it and thank the opponent that you have intimated me about a hidden flaw of mine, which I didn’t know of.  Remember it at all times that one should consider himself/herself the lowliest of all and whatever others say, one should bear.  You will see within a few days that you will gain the Content Self (Nafs Mutmainnah) and the creation of Almighty Allah will also be content and happy with you.

Dear!  Love is of 2 kinds.  One is of selfishness and the other is for the sake of Almighty Allah.  The selfish love is like a field of paddy.  It looks lush and verdant, but with the first gust of wind, it turns away its face.  The love that is for Allah’s sake is like a tree.  Though, it is not much to look at, but no matter how fierce the wind, it cannot move it.  Our love is not selfish love, may Allah protect us, which like that paddy plant turns with every gust of the wind.  Instead this love is for the sake of Allah, which like that tree will, Allah-willing, never break.  Of course, when this love is only for the sake of Allah and the Lord Almighty Himself is disobeyed, then this friendship cannot remain and we will become strangers.  The sign of love for Allah’s sake is that even if something displeasing happens, the love remains the same.  The love of the worldly people is extinguished with small things.

Unity is a great bounty of Allah.  If the elders commit some excess, the younger folk should bear it.  All Muslims should live with unity and love.  No one should be troubled.  If you want to meet someone don’t go at a time which will be displeasing to that person, go at such a time when that person will feel happy with your visit.  If that person is busy in worship or busy in some other task or desires solitude, don’t trouble that person.  In the same way, the person who is calling upon the sick shouldn’t remain there overlong.  However, if the sick person himself/herself desires it, then there is no problem.
