Shariah rules regarding menses - (2)

There is a fortnight between 2 menses

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Khudri (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: The minimal duration of a menstrual period is 3 days and the maximal duration is 10 days.  The minimal duration (or purity) between 2 menstrual periods is 15 days.

This is related by Ibn Al Jauzi.

It is mentioned in Radd Ul Muhtaar that Hadith regarding the minimal and maximal duration of a menstrual period have reached us from some Companions through different chains of narration.  All of them, combined, become fairly authenticated (Hasan).

‘Allama Kamaal and ‘Allama ‘Aini (May Allah shower His Mercy on them) have related the details regarding this in Sharh Hidaaya, which has also been related in abridged form in Bahr.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Uthman bin Abil A’as (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says:  If a woman has bleeding for more than 10 days, then she is like a Mustahaadha (a woman suffering from excessive vaginal discharge) and she should take a bath and offer Salaat.

This is related by Daaraqutni and Baihaqui has said about this Tradition (this Hadith) that there is no problem with the chain of narration of this Hadith.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says that the minimal duration of a menstrual period is 3 days.

This is related by Daarimi in his Sunan and the narrators of this Hadith are the narrators of Muslim.
