Respect and reverence is paramount in our religion
Respect and reverence is paramount in our religion. As long as Muslims had this quality of respecting (their elders), they made astonishing progress. Thus, it is mentioned in a rigorously authenticated Hadith which is related in Mishkaat Ul Masabeeh that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: A time will come when people will engage in Jihad. It will be asked: Is there any Companion of the Holy Prophet among you? It will be answered: Yes, there is! They will be victorious.
Then in another era people will engage in Jihad. It will be asked: Is there anyone among you who had the privilege of being in the company of the Companions of the Holy Prophet? The answer will be: Yes. They will also be victorious.
Then in another era, people will engage in Jihad. It will be asked: Is there anyone from among you who has seen those who have seen the Companions? The answer will be in the affirmative. They also will be victorious.
This makes it clear that people will be victorious due to the blessings of the Companions – who had the utmost respect for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
On the other hand, in these days disrespect has permeated into many folks. For this reason, instead of progress, we are regressing day by day. If we reform ourselves, then no wonder if the blessings of Allah Most High start descending on us again.
