Silk for men

For men, wearing silk or using a silk bed is impermissible.  The Hadith have prohibited men from wearing silk.  There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Umar (May Allah Ta'ala be well pleased with them):   The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  ….only that person wears silk who has nothing in the life of the hereafter.  (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 5835; Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 5524)   There is a Hadith in Sunan Nasai:   It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Moosa Ash'ari that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Silk and gold have been declared permissible for the women of my Ummah and prohibited for the men of my Ummah.  (Sunan Nasai, Hadith No. 5165)   There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:   It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Hudhaifa (May Allah Ta'ala be well pleased with him):  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has prohibited us from eating in utensils of gold and silver, from wearing silk and from sitting on flooring made of it.  (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 5837)   There is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim:   The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) prohibited us from using silk, except to the extent of 2, 3 or 4 fingers.  (Sahih Muslim, 5538)   There is a Hadith in Sunan Abu Dawood:   It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Abbas (May Allah Ta'ala be well pleased with them) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has prohibited from wearing pure silk, however there is no problem in patterns/designs made of silk.   Thus, the jurists in light of the Hadith have clarified that there is no problem if there are bands of silk, network of silk or other designs/patterns made of silk, provided they are less than or equal to the extent of 4 fingers.  As given in Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol. 3, Pg. No. 183.   Using rugs, beds, etc. made of silk is not permissible for men.  However, there is no problem in using mosquito net made of silk, as it does not come under the command of wearing silk.  As given in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Vol. 5, Pg. No. 494 and in Durre Mukhtaar, Vol. 5, Pg. No. 246.
