<p class="MsoNormal">Using black hair dye is grave sin, be it in youth or in old age.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The Hadith have strict warnings about this.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>There is a Hadith in Sunan Abu Dawood:</p> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith:<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>In the last times, there will be some people who will use black hair dye which will be like the chest of a pigeon.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>They will not get even the fragrance of Jannah.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>(Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith No. 4214)</p> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal">There is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim:</p> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith: <span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) that on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, Hadhrat Abu Quhafa (May Allah be well pleased with him) was brought before the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>His hair and beard were absolutely white.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Replace this whiteness with something else and refrain from using black hair dye.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 5631).</p> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal">This Hadith very clearly mentions the prohibition of black hair dye.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>In light of this, using black hair dye should be absolutely avoided.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Hair dye other than the black hair dye, like red or of the color of henna is permissible.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The Hadith clarify this:</p> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith: <span
