The Sahabah's respect for the hair of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)


<p class="MsoNormal">The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is neither too tall nor too short, He is of a moderate height, but it is a miracle of His person that in spite of being of medium stature, whenever He would walk along with a tall person, He would seem taller than the tall person.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>His hair are neither curled with rings nor lank, but are curved.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>His hair were sometimes till the earlobes, sometimes half-way to the neck and when they went beyond it, they would go to the base of His neck.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>They never went beyond this.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">How the Sahabah would respect the hair of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)</span></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">On the occasion of Hujjatul Wada&rsquo;a, after getting His head shaved, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ordered Hadhrat Abu Talha (May Allah be well pleased with him) to distribute them among the Sahabah, as given in Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 3215.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Apart from this, the hair that came out while performing Wuzu would be taken by the Sahabah before they fell on the ground and they would seek blessings from it.<span style="">&nbsp; </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Hadhrat Uthman Bin Abdullah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:<span style="">&nbsp; </span>My <span style="">wife gave me a bowl of water and sent me to Hadhrat Umme Salma (Ma</span>y Allah be well pleased with her<span style="">). <span style="">&nbsp;</span>It was her i.e. his wife&rsquo;s custom that whenever anybody fell ill, she would send a big container of water to Hadhrat Umme Salma (May Allah be well pleased with her). <span style="">&nbsp;</span>Hadhrat Umme Salma (May Allah be well pleased with her) had the hair of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) which she kept in a silver casing. <span style="">&nbsp;</span>She would dip the silver casing in the water and the affected people would drink that water. <span style="">&nbsp;</span>The narrator says: I looked in the silver casing. It had some red hair of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). (Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol. 3, Pg No: 442, Mishkat ul Masabeeh Pg No: 391 on the authority of Sahih Bukhari Vol. 2, Pg No: 875)</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">Hadhrat Khalid bin Walid (May Allah be well pleased with him) participated in many battles.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>The opposing army would be many times greater than the Muslim army.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Still, Hadhrat Khalid bin Walid (May Allah be well pleased with him) would come back victorious.<span style="">&nbsp; </span>Hadhrat Khalid (May Allah be well pleased with him) himself says:</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="">Translation of Hadith: The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) performed an Umrah and ordered His head to be shaved. Other people were taking the hair which were on the sides of His head. I went forward and took the hair which were on the top of His head i.e. the hair above the forehead and kept those hair in my cap. Whenever I wore this cap in any battle, I was helped and returned victorious.
