The diseases of the heart

The standard for the increasing or decreasing of the illness of the heart is the love of Allah (<i style="">Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala</i> ).<span style="">  </span>The intensity of love which is there for things other than Allah Ta’ala is the intensity of illness.<span style="">  </span>If this love is great, then the illness is also grave.<span style="">  </span>If this love is light, then the illness is also slight.<span style="">  </span>However, if someone has the love of these things, because they help in the love of Allah (<i style="">Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala</i>), then don’t consider this an illness.<span style="">  </span>This is also a sign of health.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The heart is the emperor of the body and the body is its subject and kingdom.<span style="">  </span>When the kingdom has its organs like eye, heart, etc., then the emperor should also have organs.<span style="">  </span><i style="">Baseerat </i>(insight) is its eye.<span style="">  </span><i style="">Dhikr</i> (remembrance of Allah Ta’ala) is its tongue.<span style="">  </span><i style="">Muraqaba</i> (meditation/reflection) is its hearing i.e. its ears.<span style="">  </span>When the Lord Almighty desires to bless someone for his (or her) good deeds, then He opens the eyes of the heart.<span style="">  </span>That person sees a lesson in everything.<span style="">  </span>Day and night that person is busy in not only <i style="">Dhikr</i> but also <i style="">Fikr</i> (reflection).<span style="">  </span>Allah Ta’ala opens up the tongue of the heart also and that person is always in the remembrance of the Beloved.<span style="">  </span>That person is always in Muraqaba.<span style="">  </span>This is a sign of the health of the heart.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">On the other hand, if Allah Ta’ala desires to punish a person because of his (or her) wrongdoings, then He seals up the eyes and ears of the heart. <span style=""> </span>That person does not ever learn any lesson from anything and does not ever spend time in <i style="">Fikr </i>or <i style="">Muraqaba</i>.<span style="">  </span>The tongue of the heart is also stopped from speaking.<span style="">  </span>Even by chance, the <i style="">Dhikr</i> of Allah Ta’ala does not enter that heart.<span style="">  </span>Days and nights are spent in heedlessness and this is a sign of the illness of the heart.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><o:p> </o:p></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><i style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The signs of the health of the heart</span></i></b><i style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></i></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The heart’s being free of doubt and hypocrisy, to avoid major sins (<i style="">Gunaah Kabeera</i> in Urdu), the desire to please Allah Ta’ala, i.e. doing anything to please Allah Ta’ala, to gain the <i style="">Nisbah </i>(spiritual connection), acquiring the capacity for <i style="">Dhikr</i> to such an extent that no time is spent heedless or forgetful of Allah Ta’ala and this should happen with little effort, developing a desire to obey Allah Ta’ala i.e. to follow the rules of the Shariah and hate and dislike for things not allowed by the Shariah, the greed for this world should leave the heart and that one becomes the living embodiment of the Holy Quran.<span style="">  </span>(These are all the signs of acquiring the <i style="">Nisbah</i>).</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><o:p> </o:p></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><i style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">What comprises the illness of the heart<o:p></o:p></span></i></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Heedlessness, love of this world, following one’s desires and their love and habit, pride and jealousy.<span style="">  </span>These comprise the diseases of the heart and all the diseases of the heart are created with this.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><o:p> </o:p></b></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><i style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">What should the diseased hearts avoid</span></i></b><i style=""><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></i></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Insisting on a sin, company of those who are heedless, seclusion with non-Mahram women and talking to them, company of such a rich person, who takes pride in his (or her) riches, following the desires of the flesh, sins – minor or major, either with tongue, or hand or legs or eyes or ears.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Useless talk, paying attention to somebody with desire (lust), either with eyes or heart or with thoughts, unnecessary or excess anger, to behave badly or treat someone with harshness, that heedlessness, which is due to the relations of this world, as it cannot be removed even with <i style="">Dhikr</i>, the heart will repeatedly go towards it and friendship or enmity.<span style="">  </span>The friends will gather around and waste the time and the enemies will hurt that person and put him (or her) in difficulties.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">In the same way, those things which will involve the heart in difficulties and worries and are not necessary by themselves, all these things are poison for the heart.<span style="">  </span>Always avoid these things.<span style="">  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
