The love of this world and concern for the hereafter– An analysis:
One day, there was a mention of this material world (Dunya) and condemnation of those who love it. Hadhrat Khwaja Bandanawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) said: In the present world, if somebody is asked: Is this world better or the hereafter? That person will definitely answer: Hereafter. However, when you look at the condition of that person that when that person loses some money from his pocket, then out of grief that person will stop eating and drinking and it will affect his heart so much that it cannot be expressed. On the other hand, if somebody misses a Salaat, then if that person is a religious Muslim, once or twice he will say: Astaghfirullah i.e. May Allah Most High forgive me and this matter will be forgotten. Neither does missing the Salaat has such an effect on his heart nor does he miss food or drink over it.
This shows that the words of those who love this world are merely on the tip of their tongues. This talk does not have any relation with the heart.
There is no honesty in these times
It is mentioned in Qut Al Qulub that there was a time that people would go to the market and ask the policemen and other officials as to whom should they have dealings with? The policemen and others would all say that all the shopkeepers are honest and they may have dealings with anybody whom they want to. After this, there was a time when it was said that so and so shopkeepers are dishonest. Don’t go to them. Apart from them, have dealings with whomever you want to. Then a time came when it was said that don’t have dealings with anybody except so and so. After this, there is a time when no one is honest and that is our time.
Obviously, it is very difficult to traverse the path to Allah in an era in which there is so much dishonesty.
Islam was in its most perfect and beautiful state in the era of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). The era of the first 4 Rashid Caliphs was also like the era of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). After this, the era of the Successors and their successors was also a respite. After that era, Islam did not remain in its original state. In the present times, there is neither religion nor religious people. Only anecdotes and stories remain.
What is written in our fate is immutable
Once there was some talk about medicines, etc. Hadhrat Khwaja said: The medicine does not have any effect by itself. If Allah Most High has decreed in fate that this medicine should have effect, then that medicine will be effective and therapeutic for those who are ill. Otherwise, what is written in fate is unalterable and cannot be changed with anything.
Hadhrat Moosa (May peace be upon him) asked Allah Most High: Is what is decreed changed by a medicine? Allah Most High said: No. Hadhrat Moosa (May peace be upon him) asked: Then why do these doctors treat people? Allah Most High said: Doctors earn their bread by this profession and make my slaves happy.
