Hadhrat Khwaja Saifuddin Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (May Allah shower His mercy on him)

Hadhrat Khwaja Saifuddin Naqshbandi (May Allah shower His mercy on him) is the 5th son of the great saint Hadhrat Khwaja Muhammad Masoom Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (May Allah shower His mercy on him).

He was born in 1055 Hijri.

He was a scholar who acted on his own knowledge and would always be aloof from everyone else except Allah Most High.  After completing his studies, he gained the blessings of the Naqshbandi order from his own father.  His absorption and his powers were such that people would be shaken with his attention.

As per the orders of his father, he stayed in Delhi.  He was famous in all sections of the society.  Even Emperor Aurangzeb, along with his family and nobles, became his disciples and drew inward benefit from him.  Due to the blessings of his company, they would always spend the night awake in worship.  He wrote to his father that in Emperor Aurangzeb, the sainthood of Latifa Akhfa is dominant.  His father Hadhrat Khwaja Masoom Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (May Allah shower His mercy on him) also confirmed this with his spiritual insight (Kashf).

Hadhrat Khwaja Saifuddin Naqshbandi (May Allah shower His mercy on him) had reached such a stage in enjoining good and forbidding evil that no other Shaykh reached that level after him nor was there any in those times.  In his times, all innovations in the whole of India were done away with.  For this reason, his father had named him “Muhtasib Ummah” i.e. the Reckoner of the Ummah.

Once, Hadhrat Aurganzeb (May Allah shower His mercy on him) invited him to the palace.  In accordance with the Sunnah, the Shaykh accepted the invitation.  When he reached the fort, his eyes fell on the wall of the fort on which a photo (of a living thing) was sculptured.  On seeing it, the Shaykh promptly went back.  When Aurangzeb (May Allah shower His mercy on him) learnt of this, he ordered that the sculpture be done away with and took the Shaykh to his palace.

Everyday 1400 people would eat from his kitchen, each as per his own wish.  Thus, with his blessings both the rich and the poor benefited and thousands were perfected.

A disciple of the Shaykh wanted to reduce his food.  The Shaykh said that in this order, decrease of food isn’t necessary.  Our elders have based this order on continuous remembrance of Allah, minding the heart (Wuquf-e-Qalbi) and company of the master.

The result and fruit of asceticism and extreme mortification is the power to work miracles.  We have no need for it…..

He passed away in 1095 Hijri.  His blessed grave is in Sirhind, India.
