Reward of good deeds

Hadhrat Yahya bin Ma’adh (May Allah shower His mercy on him) says:  I am surprised at those people who consider permissible (Mubah) things to be wrong for the pious and fail to consider huge sins of their own as wrong!  They themselves are seeped in backbiting, spite, ostentation, breaking promises, pride, self-love and selfishness and don’t repent.  Yet, they object to pious people wearing permissible clothes and eating permissible food.

Hadhrat Syed ‘Abdullah (May Allah shower His mercy on him) sys:  I saw my distinguished grandfather (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in a dream and entreated:  Who among your relatives is the closest to you?  He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  The one who abandoned the material world and kept the hereafter before his (or her) eyes and met me in such a state that the record of deeds is free of sins.

Hadhrat Imam Ghazali (May Allah shower His mercy on him) says:  Don’t be pleased on listening to your own praise and consider it bad in your heart.  Keep in mind your own deeds and tray thoughts.  One should keep thinking that only Allah knows how I will die (i.e. with faith or without faith)

Hadhrat Sa’eed bin Al Musayyib (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  There is no pious scholar who doesn’t have a fault.  But there are some people whose faults shouldn’t be mentioned.  This is because those persons in whom good is more than evil, their evil will be forgiven due to their good.

Those people who believed in Almighty Allah and accepted the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and didn’t stop there but performed good deeds as well, those who dealt in this material world as well, but with regard for the hereafter, who indulged in the affairs of this world but with the thought that they have stand before Almighty Allah then when such people get up from their graves (i.e. are resurrected), their good deeds will guide them in beautiful forms.  Their faith will be the beauty of their hereafter.  Their good deeds will become like lamps, stars, moon and sun, as the case may be, and will guide them through all the phases of the hereafter and will take them near to paradise.

Near paradise, they will find some streams.  The moment they drink from one stream, all blameworthy traits will leave them.  Their outward and inward aspects will be rendered pure.  In paradise instead of the calls of nature, they will sweat a musk-like fragrance.  Then when they bathe from another stream, their faces will shine like the full moon.  Their bodies will become soft like silk and fragrant like musk.

When they enter paradise, they will see the streams of the mercy of Almighty Allah.  Apart from the famous ones like Tasneem, Salsabeel, etc., there will be many other ones and their number is known only to Allah Most High.

Four streams of honey, milk, etc. will be flowing from under the tree of Tooba.  They are the reward of good deeds.
