Other religions/philosophies are full of extremes and Islam is free of them. This can be understood with the fact that Jews and Christians go the extremes in matters of monotheism and Islam is the moderate path. Jews try to prove the presence of human defects in the Lord Almighty. Thus, they call Him “poor.” They believe that the Lord Almighty was tired after creation of the heavens and the earth. The Christians believe that Isa (May peace be upon him) is on of the trinity. Thus, the Jews consider the Lord Almighty to be equal to humans and the Christians have elevated humans to the status of the Lord Almighty.
On the other hand, Muslims consider Lord Almighty to be free of all defects, whatsoever and respect and revere Prophet ‘Isa (May peace be upon him) and others to the extent that they don’t consider them to be on par with the Lord Almighty.
In the same way, in the tenet of Prophethood also there are wrong opinions. Thus, the Jews disrespect the Prophets and even kill them and the Christians consider the helpers (Hawariyyeen) also to be prophets and consider their obedience to be compulsory in itself like the obedience of the Prophets. On the other hand, the Muslims consider the obedience of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) compulsory and they obey the scholars as well but only because they have better understood the commands and directives of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
On searching, one can get even more examples that other religions/belief-systems are prone to extremes and that Islam is the path of moderation. And why shouldn’t it be? Doesn’t Almighty Allah say:
And, in the same way, (O Muslims,) We made you the best Umma (Community—fair to all with a tolerant, moderate and balanced outlook). Surah Baqarah (2:143)
In the same way the path of the Ahle Sunnah is also the path of moderation.
Just see how much immoderation exists in beliefs about the attributes of Almighty Allah. The M’utazila completely negates them……..as given in Sharh Mawaqif, etc.
The Mujassima take the literal meaning of all the verses and Hadith that are about the attributes of Almighty Allah. Thus, their god has a human face, he is 7 hand-breadths tall, is made of flesh, etc….is sitting on the Throne. All his body parts will be obliterated except his face, as given in Mawaqif and Talbees Iblees, etc.
The Ahle Sunnah is the path of moderation
On the contrary, the Ahle Sunnah believe in all the attributes of Allah that are mentioned in the Holy Quran and the Hadith, but also believe as the Lord Almighty has said:
There is nothing like Him and He alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. Surah Shoora (42:11)
