Hadhrat Shaykh Ali Shah Saangde Mushkil Aasaan (May Allah shower His mercy on him) was born in the last part of 8th century of Hijri in Qandahar in Nanded.
He had a special interest in propagation of Islam. Thus, the reasons that are given for his honorific mention that he had toured various parts of Deccan as well as Punjab and Sindh. When he stayed for some time in an area called “Sangda,” by witnessing his high status and the miracles expressed at his hands, scores of people gathered around him and became his devotees and he was addressed as “Saangde Sultan” Lit. “the Emperor of Saangde”
Another reason is that in Daulatabad a person called “Sangad” used to live. He had turned the people away from the true beliefs and tenets of Islamic faith. Hadhrat Shaykh Ali (May Allah shower His mercy on him) overpowered him and from then on, he was known as “Saangde Sultan”.
Another narration is that he had inherited the hobby of exercising and warfare from his great-grandfather. He would always be ready for war in defense of peace. When he would walk, he would have “Saang” a longish weapon like a spear in each hand. He was extraordinarily proficient in using it. Many other masters of the art of warfare prided themselves on learning this skill from him. For this reason, all the soldiers of Deccan called him “Saangde Sultan”.
The fame of his high status and his miracles had spread in his own lifetime. Hadhrat Maulana Shah Rafiuddin (May Allah shower His mercy on him) has detailed the life of Hadhrat Saangde Sultan in his seminal work, “Tareekh Anwar Ul Qandahar” (1213 Hijri)
None of the actual works of Hadhrat Saangde Sultan survive today, but his utterances were collected by his nephew Hadhrat Shah Ziauddin Biyabani (May Allah shower His mercy on him) in “Matlub Ut Talibeen”
In 832 Hijri, Hadhrat Saangde Sultan (May Allah shower His mercy on him) came to Daulatabad from a journey of Khurasan. He stayed there for some time and returned to Qandahaar. He settled down at his ancestral place near a lake near the blessed grave of his father.
He had 3 sons Hadhrat Syed Shah Azeemuddin, Hadhrat Syed Shah Ahmed Manjhle Chilladaar and Hadhrat Syed Shah Muinuddin (May Allah shower His mercy on them).
All his sons were great saints with whose blessings many people have cleaned and purified their hearts.
Hadhrat Syed Shah Ali Hussaini Rifai Qadri Saangde Sultan Mushkil Aasaan (May Allah shower His mercy on him) passed away on 8th Safar 84 Hijri and as per another narration, in 846 Hijri.
