Allah Ta'ala is supremely benevolent on His slaves/worshippers. In rewarding His slaves and punishing the sinners, He has made His attribute of Rahmah (mercy) dominant over His attribute of wrath (Ghazab). To grant the edict of forgiveness to those who sin repeatedly, the Lord Almighty has created many avenues of forgiveness. He has given us sacred nights and days and has created a path of Tauba and forgiveness for us. These are all manifestations of His Rahmah.
That Allah Ta'ala’s mercy supersedes His wrath is mentioned in the following Hadith of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: When Allah Ta'ala brought about the creation into existence, He wrote on the ‘Arsh: My Rahmah supersedes my wrath. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 7422)
Throughout the day and night, the worshippers of Allah Ta'ala end up disobeying Him. They end up committing various kinds of sins because of the rebelliousness of the Nafs (the self) and the deceits of Satan. They disobey the Lord Almighty and commit various kinds of indecencies. It is only the mercy of Allah Ta'ala that the sinners are not debased in this world and it is His boundless benevolence that through His worship and good deeds, He has created many paths of forgiveness. Allah Ta'ala has decreed small but effective deeds/acts of worship for the forgiveness of His worshippers.
The Lord Almighty and all His attributes are beyond the confines of time and space and all His attributes are boundless. The mercy of Allah Ta'ala is also boundless and it is expansive beyond comprehensive and envelops everything. The whole creation draws benefits from His Rahmah. Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran:
Surah A’araaf 156
Allah Ta'ala created human beings and gave them great ni’mah like mind, sight, speech, hearing and the like. He granted them health and comfort and gave them many external and internal bounties. The whole world has been created to serve human beings. All these grants and gifts are nothing but the mercy of Allah Ta'ala.
Manifestation of His mercy on the creation
Regardless of whether it is human beings or the genies, animals or insects, Allah Ta'ala has benefited one and all by His mercy and benevolence. He has disseminated 1 percent of His mercy in all creation. When only 1% of the Lord’s mercy has suffused and overwhelmed all creation, then what to say about mercy more than that!
There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that when Allah Ta'ala created Rahmah (mercy), He made 100 parts of it then itself. The Lord kept 99 parts of it with Himself and sent 1 part for the whole creation. If the unbelievers realize what mercy Allah Ta'ala has, they will never despair of (entering) Jannah and if the believers realize the tortures and punishment that Allah Ta'ala has, they will never get over their fear of hell. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 6469)
