Islam - Patron of human rights

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has revoked the systems of the days of ignorance and declared all its customs and traditions as null and void, as it was based on oppression, barbarism and terrorism and other inhuman practices.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has delivered humanity from the unjust systems and practices of the days of ignorance and has granted humanity a universal and international Islamic system.  The basis of this system is justice, peace and security.  The objective of this system is to grant justice to the oppressed, to attend to the pleas of the poor and the needy and that rights should be granted to whom they are due.

In this proclamation, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) granted such basic rights to humanity, which it was not yet aware of.  The unforgettable sermon of the last Hajj, became the starting point of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) not only described it, but declared its implementation as well.  This law was implement in Madina and its surrounding areas.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) declared all human beings as equal.  Thus, as human beings, no human being is superior to another human being.  There is no discrimination of color, race, nationality, political, affluence or otherwise.  In this international Islamic system, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), has granted the right of life, right to education, right to vote, right to trade, right to own property, marital rights and also right to express one's opinion, right to demand justice and other rights and all other personal, collective, economic and social rights.

These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi Qadri, Professor of Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder/Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center in the weekly lecture held at Masjid Abul Hasanaat, Jahanuma.

Mufti Sahab said that not only for Muslims, but for the whole of humanity, the message of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is a universal message.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) described the rights and duties of all sections of humanity.  He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) gave guidelines for their mental and cognitive faculties, for their beliefs and faith, for their practical life as well as for their character and did a great favor on humanity.

He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) gave the solution for economic and monetary problems.  His teachings are such that they are at the same time, a beacon of guidance for the jurists and lawmakers and their ultimate destination as well.

Mufti Sahab said that to achieve success and prosperity, acting upon Islamic teachings is a must.  Islam has given every human being the right to lead a free life.  No one has the right to take a life and no one can take anybody else's wealth/property without that person's express permission.

Mufti Sahab said that in the society in which there are discrimination based on caste, affluence, race, creed, etc.,  mutual animosities and enmities are created very easily and such a society deteriorates and disintegrates very soon.  The best society is the one in which there are no differences, in which the rights of each individual are the same.  In this regard, Mufti Sahab quoted a Hadith:

Translation of Hadith: No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab except through piety.

In the days of ignorance, women were subjected to derogatory, oppressive and inhuman treatment.  Boys were favored over girls.  The girls were considered a burden.  In inheritance, only the boys received a share.  Women were oppressed in all aspects of life and society.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) declared all the rights for women to which they were entitled and granted them such a lofty place that no religion or system can even think of it.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "Fear Allah Ta'ala about women and accept the advice of treating them nicely."

A lot of people attended the lecture.  Hafidh Maulana Syed Ahmed Ghouri, teacher, Jamia Nizamia, led the proceedings.
