Types of Haj
There are 3 kinds of Haj:
1. Haj Qiran.
2. Haj Tamatt’u
3. Haj Ifrad
Haj Qiran is the Haj in which Haj and Umrah are performed in 1 Ihram i.e. you cross the Meeqat in Ihram with the intention of performing both Haj and Ihram in the same Ihram.
In this Haj, Halaq (Shaving of the head) is not performed after performing the Umrah, but instead the Haji remains in Ihram and Haj is performed in the same Ihram.
Haj Tamatt’u is the Haj in which Haj and Umrah are performed in separate Ihram i.e. you cross Meeqat in Ihram with the intention of performing Umrah and after performing Umrah, the Ihram in unbound and when the days of Haj begin, then again the Ihram is bound with the intention of Haj.
Most people perform Haj Tamatt’u only.
Haj Ifrad is that Haj in which Ihram is bound only with the intention of performing Haj and after performing the Haj, the Ihram is unbound.
Meeqat are those boundaries which you cannot cross unless you are in Ihram.
Months of Haj:Shawwal, Dhul Qa’ada and the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are the months of Haj.
There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Ul Haj :
Translation of Hadith: Hadhrat Abdullah Bin ‘Umar (May Allah be well pleased with them) said: Shawwal, Dhul Qa’ada and the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are the months of Haj.
The days of Haj:There are 6 days of Haj:
8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13th of Dhul Hijjah
