What to do in Shab Meraj

In this blessed night, the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was given the gift of Salaat (namaaz), so this is very appropriate.  Muslims offer Qaza Umri, Salaat Ut Tasbeeh and other Nafl (optional) Salaat on this night.  We should also recite the Holy Quran and recite Durud a lot.

Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Salman Farsi (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: There is such a day and night in Rajab that whoever fasts on that day and spends the night in Salaat, will get the reward of fasting for 100 years and spending the nights of 100 years in worship and that is the 27th of Rajab (i.e. the night following the 26th of Rajab and the day of 27th)  (Fadhaail Awqaat Lil Baihaqui, Babi Fi Fadhli Shahri Rajab, Hadith No. 11; Kanz Ul Ummal, Hadith No. 35169)

There is another Hadith:

Translation of Hadith:  Hadhrat Anas Bin Malik (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: There is a night in Rajab in which the reward of 100 years is written for those who make efforts and that is the 27th night of Rajab.  Thus, the person who offers 12 Raka’at, in each Raka’at recites any Surah of the Holy Quran after Surah Fatiha, then recites:

Subhanallahi walhamdulillahi wallahu akbar 100 times and does Astaghfaar 100 times and sends Durud 100 times on the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), then makes Dua for anything of this world or the hereafter and fasts the next day, then verily Allah Ta’ala will accept all his prayers excepting that he (or she) asks for any kind of disobedience of Allah Ta’ala.  (i.e. this prayer will not be accepted)

(Fadhaail Awqaat Lil Baihaqui, Babi Fi Fadhli Shahri Rajab, Hadith No. 12; Kanz Ul Ummal, Hadith No. 35170)

Hadhrat Ghouse Azam (May Allah be well pleased with him) has narrated Hadith in his famous classic Al Ghunya Lit Talibi Tareeqil Haqqi, with his own chain of authority:

Translation of Hadith: Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Whoever fasts on the 27th of Rajab, will get the reward of fasting for 60 months.  (Al Ghunya Lit Talibi Tareeqil Haqqi, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 182).

Translation of Hadith: Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates on the authority of Hadhrat Salman Farsi (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: In Rajab, there is such a day and such a night that whoever fasts on that day and spends that night in Salaat will get the reward equal to that person who fasted for a 100 years and spent the nights of 100 years in worship.  Then he wrote in the interpretation of that Hadith:

Translation: It is the 27th of Rajab.  (Al Ghunya Lit Talibi Tareeqil Haqqi, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 182/183)
