Meraj- Sign of Prophet's greatness
The incident of Meraj – A sign of greatness and grandeur
Allah SWT has sent almost 124,000 Prophets in this world. Each Prophet was given miracles ( M’ujiza ) as per their times. But the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is sent as a M’ujiza Himself. The incident of Meraj is a great miracle of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi Qadri Founder/Director Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center and Naib Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia ,on July 12, 2009, Sunday at Masjid Abul Hasanaat in the weekly lecture organized by Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center.
Mufti Sahab also said that on the night of 26 Rajab, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) started for Meraj in His own blessed body (and not in a dream) from Masjid Haraam to Bait Ul Muqaddis and from there to the seven heavens and beyond them, to the ‘Arsh and even beyond it till wherever Allah SWT wanted Him to go and was honored with the special Qurb (closeness) and the vision of Allah SWT.
Not only the journey of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is a miracle, but even the returning here is a miracle. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is Noor (radiance) who is present here as a human, so touring the spiritual worlds and going even beyond the ‘Arsh in a small portion of the night is a miracle of His humanness and living with the people, performing business and other worldly dealings, eating and drinking in spite of being Noor is a miracle of His Noor
Meraj is one of the specialties of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Allah SWT granted Him such heights that no other Prophet was given that much. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Himself enjoyed the Qurb and the vision of Allah SWT and granted that eternal ni’mah to the Ummah.
Mufti Sahab also said that food, clothing, shelter are the basic needs of a person, but it was a miracle of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that He would fast continuously without Sahri (pre-dawn meal) or Iftaar (breaking the fast). When the Sahabah also started fasting continuously in imitation of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), they became weak. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Who among you all is like Me? I spend My night with My Lord. My Lord feeds me. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No: 9182)
The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went beyond the ‘Arsh and had the vision of Allah SWT. The Qurb , which He enjoyed did not end, but increases every moment, as Allah SWT says:
And verily what is to come will be better for thee than the present. Surah Adh- Dhuha (93:4)
