We learn from the sayings of Hadhrat Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah Ta'ala shower His mercy on him) that he didn’t consider Tasawwuf to be just a branch of knowledge or just a name, as with him Tasawwuf is character, which should be perfect.
The Salik (the one who traverses the path of closeness to Allah Ta'ala) should abide the Shariah. When nothing against the Shariah is committed by the Salik, he (or she) reaches the next stage, which is called Tariqat. When he is steadfast in this, he will achieve the station of Ma’arifah. When he is deemed to be up to this, he will reach the station of Haqiqah.
Stress on establishing Salaat
Hadhrat Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah Ta'ala shower His mercy on him) would stress offering of Salaat with all its requirements. He says:
Translation: Salaat is an article of faith and its pillar. When the pillar is standing, the house will also stand. If the pillar falls, then the house is also not safe. Whoever is careless in Salaat has spoiled his religion and faith.
Along with Salaat, Hadhrat Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah Ta'ala shower His mercy on him) would also stress fasting and Haj. He himself would be perennially fasting and has also visited the Ka’aba many times. (Seerat-E-Ghareebnawaz, 263 to 274)
Here some teachings of Hadhrat Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah Ta'ala shower His mercy on him) are being presented.
Blessings of sleeping with Wuzu
When a person sleeps with proper Taharah, then it is ordered that angels remain with that person. Until morning, they keep entreating Allah Ta'ala that this person should be forgiven, because he has slept with Taharah. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 3)
Excellence of feeding a hungry person
Whoever feeds a hungry person, in Qiyamah, Allah Ta'ala will cast 7 veils between this person and hell.
Condemnation of taking a false oath
Whoever takes a false oath has as if rendered his whole family desolate, as Barakah (blessings) are taken away from there.
Result of hurting a Muslim
There is no major sin greater than troubling a Muslim brother. Both Allah Ta'ala and His Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) are displeased with this. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 17)
A sin doesn’t hurt you so much as much as humiliating and debasing a Muslim brother. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen,. Pg. No. 9)
Greatness of the Holy Quran
If somebody hears the blessed name of Allah Ta'ala or listens to the Holy Quran and the heart does not become soft and his faith and belief don’t increase with the awe of Allah Ta'ala, then it is a major sin. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 18)
Seeing 5 things is worship
Seeing 5 things is worship.
1. Seeing one’s parents, as given in the Hadith that for the son who sees the face of his parents, the reward of a Haj is written in his record of deeds.
2. Seeing the Holy Quran.
3. Seeing the face of a scholar or a Shaykh with reverence.
4. The Ka’aba and the doorsill of the Ka’aba.
5. Seeing the face of one’s spiritual mentor (Pir-o-Murshid) and busying oneself in his service. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 20 t 22)
Exhortation to follow the commands of Allah Ta'ala
What is there that is not in the power of Allah Ta'ala. A believer should not lessen acting upon the commands of Allah Ta'ala. Then whatever he asks for, he will get it. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 24)
Surah Fatiha is the Surah of healing
Surah Fatiha is a cure for all aches and diseases. A disease which is not cured by medicines will be cured by reciting Surah Fatiha 41 times between the Sunnah and Fardh of Fajr and blowing upon the body part. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 29)
3 parts of a night
Divide the night into 3 parts. Spend the first part in Salaat, the second in Tahajjud, about which the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: This is Fardh on us. Offer this Salaat with 4 Salaam i.e. 4 units of 2 Raka'at each. Recite all that you remember from the Holy Quran, then sleep for some time. Then get up, perform a fresh Wuzu and busy oneself in remembrance of Allah Ta'ala until the dawn. (Daleel Ul A’arifeen, Pg. No. 36)
Sign of divine love
Completely following Allah Ta'ala and fearing that He would remove you from His door. (Siyar Ul Auliya, 55)
Sign of divine rejection
The sign of rejection by the Lord Almighty is that you sin and still have hopes that you will be accepted. (Siyar Ul Auliya, Pg. No. 55)
