Major sins and hypocrisy - IV
What are the 9 clear commands?
It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Safwan bin ‘Assaal (May Allah be well pleased with him), he said: A Jew told his friend: Take me to their Prophet. The friend said: Don’t say “Prophet. “ If he hears it, he will have stars in his eyes (i.e. he will be really glad).
Both of them came to the Prophet and asked him about the 9 clear commands. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: (1) Do not ascribe a partner to Allah, (2) do not steal, (3) do not fornicate, (4) do not murder someone whose killing Allah Most High has prohibited, (5) do not present someone innocent before a king to be killed, (6) do not practice sorcery, (7) do not consume usury, (8) do not slander a virtuous woman, (9) do not turn your back on the occasion of war.
The narrator Safwan says: Both of them kissed the hands and feet of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and they said: We bear witness that you are the Prophet. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) asked them: Then what is stopping you from following me. They said: Indeed, Hadhrat Dawood (May peace be upon him) supplicated Allah Most High that there should always be prophets in his progeny and we fear that if we follow you, the Jews will murder us.
Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood and Nasaai have related this Hadith.
Can the feet of a scholar or Shaykh be kissed or not?
It is written in Durre Mukhtaar that if a demand is made on a scholar or Shaykh to extend his feet so as to kiss them, then this demand must be met and as per another narration, the scholar, etc. should not accept this demand.
Three things are the essence of faith
It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Three things are the essence of faith: (1) To desist from hurting those who believe in Laa ilaaha illallaah, and not to declare such a person a disbeliever due to any sin. (2) Jihad from when I have been sent as a Prophet which will continue to the point that the last person of this Ummah will kill Dajjaal. Neither can the oppression of any oppressor stop it nor can the justice of a just (ruler). (3) To believe in destiny (i.e. predetermination)
