Blessings of Bismillah

It is given in Sharh Al Mawahib Al Ladunniya that “Allah,” “Ar-Rahman” and “Ar-Raheem” are the Ism-e-A’adham.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) that when “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem” was revealed to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the clouds raced towards the east, there was a lull in the winds, there was a tide in the oceans, all the animals were listening carefully, the devils were stoned away from the sky and the Lord Almighty swore by His honor that whoever recites Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem on something, that will definitely be blessed.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be well pleased with him) that whoever wants to be freed from the 19 guards of hell, it is compulsory for that person to recite Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, which has 19 letters.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) that when a teacher asks the students to recite Bismillah, then deliverance from hell is written (i.e. decreed) for the student, the teacher and their parents.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) that when a person is stuck in a difficulty, that person should recite Bismillah, as due to its blessings, Allah Most High will turn away as many difficulties as He wants.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that any great work started without Bismillah will be defective and incomplete.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Ata (May Allah be well pleased with him) that when the donkeys start braying at night, then Bismillah and A’audhu Billah… must be recited.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Whoever who recites Bismillah, for every letter 4000 virtues are entered into that person’s record of deeds, 4000 sins are wiped out and that person’s status is raised by 4000 stations.  It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that Bismillah is the key for every book.
