Helping those who are affected by the earthquake is our duty towards humanity
Human beings have been brought into this world for the Ma'arifah (realization) of Allah Ta'ala and the reason for their creation is worship of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala). However, there are some people who forget the goal of life, they have left the worship of Allah Ta'ala and are immersed in the love of this world. To remind them of the ultimate goal of this life, Allah Ta'ala reveals some of His signs. Earthquakes are also one of them.
An earthquake comes without any prior warning and takes into its sweep thousand of people. Skyscrapers kiss the ground in not time.
An earthquake brings it with the message that in the way skyscrapers have been razed to the ground, in the same way, on the day of Qiyamah, the whole earth will be done away with.
At that time, there will be such powerful earthquakes that huge mountains, tall trees, etc. will be razed to the ground. The Holy Quran calls our attention to this only:
When the Earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion Surah Al-Zalzala (99:1)
Allah Ta'ala is well aware of every deed of His slaves. In solitude, when committing a sin, a human being thinks that he/she is hidden from the eyes of the people, but he/she does not know that on the Day of Judgment, the very spot, its walls and earth will give witness that on such and such time, this deed was committed. As given in Surah Zalzala:
On that Day will she declare her tidings: Surah Zalzala (99:4)
There is a Hadith in Jame' Tirmidhi:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) recited the said verse, then asked the Sahabah: Do you know what will be its news? The Sahabah said: Allah Ta'ala and His Prophet know best.
Translation of Hadith: The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: The earth will give witness on everything done on it for every person whether man or woman. (Jame' Tirmidhi, Hadith No: 2616)
Recently, a frightening earthquake struck the Caribbean nation, Haiti. Helping them is our duty.
There is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he said that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: If a person removes the least among the worldly difficulties of a Momin, then Allah Ta'ala will remove the big difficulty in Qiyamah. Allah Ta'ala will create ease for that person in this world and the next for the person who creates ease for a needy person.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No: 7028)
There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him): The person who gives some relief to a widow and poor and the needy is like the one who makes efforts in the path of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). The narrator says: I think the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) also said: That person is like that person who is awake in the nights and does not ever tire and like the person who fasts continuously.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 6007, Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 2982)
There is a Hadith in Zujajatul Masabeeh:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam): Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will definitely grant Jannah to the person who includes an orphan in his (or her) food and drink excepting that person commits a sin which cannot be forgiven.
(Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol. 4, Pg. No: 96)
There is another Hadith in Zujajatul Masabeeh:
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: If any person fulfils any need of any one of My Ummah, through which he (or she) wants to make that person happy, then in reality that person has made Me happy and that person has pleased Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) and Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will enter that person into Jannah who pleases Him.
