Some miracles of Hadhrat Khaja Ghareebnawaz
(May Allah shower His Mercy on him)
There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:
Translation: It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he said that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Allah Most High said: Whoever bears enmity with my Friend (Wali), I declare war against him. My slave doesn’t come closer to me with an act more beloved to me than the obligatory acts of worship (Fardh) which I have assigned to him and my slave keeps coming closer to me with supererogatory acts of worship (Nafl), so much so that I start loving him. When I make him my beloved, then I become his ears with whom he hears. I become his eyes with which he sees. I become his hand with which he holds and I become his legs with which he walks. If he asks me for something, I surely grant it. If he asks me for protection, I compulsorily grant it. If I want to do something, I don’t hesitate the way I wait before taking the soul of a believer when he (or she) does not desire it and I don’t like hurting him (or her). (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 6502)
This Hadith shows the great excellence and glory of the saints. When the power of Almighty Allah Himself works in their senses, then they hear and listen to what is near them and also what is far from them. They have extraordinary power in their hands and in their feet. That is why their power is not like the power of the common people. They place their feet with such power that in the space of a single moment, they traverse many many leagues.
Glad tidings of kingship
For those who are beloved of Allah Most High, the veils from the outward and inward sights are removed. Thus, they see what is to happen in the future and the events of the past are also not hidden from them. Hadhrat Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) also saw with the sight of his heart and mentioned the events of the future. Thus, once the Khaja was sitting with Hadhrat Auhaduddeen Kirmani and Hadhrat Shihabuddin Suharwardi (May Allah shower His mercy on him). A lad, Shamsuddin Iltumish, passed by them. The Khaja said: This lad will become the king of Delhi. I have seen in the protected tablet (Lauhi Mahfooz) that this lad will not leave this material world unless and until he becomes the king of Delhi. He became the king as the Khaja had foretold. (Iqtibaas Ul Anwaar, Pg. No. 377)
Fire-worshippers became exemplary saints
Hadhrat Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) was residing in Baghdad. There, 7 fire-worshippers were engaged in extreme worship and self-mortification. One day, all of them came to visit the Khaja. When the Khaja cast a glance at them, their faced paled and their limbs started trembling. In this state, they fell at the feet of the Khaja. He chided them thus: O you who stay away from the true religion! Don’t you feel ashamed to worship someone apart from the Lord Almighty?
They said: We worship the fire with the hope that won’t burn us on the Day of Judgment. The Khaja said: Unless and until you worship the Lord Almighty, there is no escape and deliverance from the fire. They said: If the fire doesn’t burn you, we will embrace Islam. The Khaja said: Fire can’t burn even the shoe of M'uinuddin.
Fire was burning at a place. The Khaja cast his shoe into the fire and said: O fire! Don’t burn the shoe of M'uniuddin. The moment the Khaja said this, the fire went cold. At this time a voice said and everyone heard: How can the fire dare to burn the shoe of my beloved.
When the fire-worshippers saw this, they immediately embraced Islam and remained in the company of the Khaja and reached sainthood. (Iqtibaas Ul Anwaar, Pg. No. 354)
Watching over the disciples and attendants
Once a woman came to the Khaja and said: My son has been slain by the ruler of the city. The Khaja took his staff and along with his disciples and attendants, went to that place. He joined the head of the deceased with his body and said: O so and so! If you have been killed wrongly, then get up with the command of Almighty Allah!
As soon as these words were articulated, the corpse moved, that person came back to life. He fell at the feet of the Khaja and went away happily with his mother. When the ruler heard of this, he came to the Khaja and sought his pardon. (Iqtibaas Ul Anwaar, Pg. No. 377)
Once a person came to Hadhrat Fareeduddin Ganjshakar (May Allah shower His mercy on him) and said: My life was very straitened. I turned to Khaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him). I saw a dream that the Khaja came to me and granted me 6 pieces of bread (Roti). Sixty years have passed since then. Every day I get whatever I need. Me and all my family members are leading a comfortable life. Hadhrat Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) said: That wasn’t a dream, but it was the benevolence of Almighty Allah that the Khaja had mercy on you and removed your poverty.
