Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) invites the Prophet
Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) said: On the occasion of the Battle of Trench, when I observed that a stone was tied on the blessed stomach of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), I could not bear it. I sought the Prophet’s permission and went to my house. I checked what was present in the house to host the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). I saw a young goat and a quantity (1 Sa’a) of barley. I slaughtered that young goat and told my wife to prepare roti and curry.
Then I went to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and requested: O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)! You please grace my house along with some Companions. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) addressed all the Companions: O you who are digging the trench! Jabir has prepared a feast. All may go to his house and partake of it.
The Holy Prophet said to Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him): Don’t prepare the chapatti until I come and don’t remove the dish from the (brick and mortar) stove either.
The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went to the house of Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) and put His blessed saliva into the dough and the meat and prayed that the food be blessed. Then He ordered that the dish should not be removed from the stove.
Then the Companions were served and 1000 persons ate their fill. However, the dough and quantity of meat remained as it was before the feast……(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 4101)
These were the blessings of the saliva of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that from such a small quantity of food, 1000 persons were satisfied and the amount of dough and meat remained the same, which was again distributed among other people.
