The name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) brings peace

 

Weekly lecture of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi in Masjid Abul Hasanaat

 

Every person desires peace and solace.  Human beings use many means and make many efforts to gain it.  However, inner peace is more important that outward peace.  The person whose heart is at peace and whose inward aspect is unblemished is indeed successful.

 

Allah Most High has described the method of gaining inner peace in the Holy Quran: 

 

Those who believe and their hearts become calm and contented with the remembrance of Allah—know that it is the remembrance of Allah alone that brings calm to the hearts.  Surah Ra’ad (13:28)

 

Imam Suyuti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has related on the authority of Imam Mujahid (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) that “remembrance of Allah Most High” means the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).

 

These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.

 

The revered Mufti said that Allah Most High has placed such an effect in the blessed name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that it grants us peace even in the midst of difficulties and one’s anxiety is turned to comfort.  He quoted on the authority of Al Mawahib Al Ladunniya that Hadhrat Anas bin Malik (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  We called upon a sick young Madinite Companion.  He passed away within a short time.  We covered his (now dead) body with a cloth and offered our condolences to his mother who was old and blind.  His mother asked:  Is my son dead?  We replied in the affirmative. 

 

The dead youth’s mother started supplicating:  O Allah!  You know well that I emigrated to You and Your Prophet with the hope that You will help me in every difficulty.  Don’t impose this difficulty on me!  Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  We had not yet moved away from that place that the Madinite youth got up and had food with us.

 

The revered Mufti said that this Hadith shows us that the mention of the Prophet revives the dead.  It also shows that offering food to others as a form of thankfulness was the custom of the Companions (May Allah be well pleased with them) as well.

 

The session ended with Salaam and Dua.  Maulana Hafidh Ahmed Mohiuddin Rafi, Teacher, Dar Ul Uloom An Nomaniya, led the proceedings.
