Facing difficulties for the sake of Islam
Difficulties and trials are a part and parcel of life. The greatest trial is to face the difficulties which arise in following the rules of the Shariah and to defeat them and progress on the path of closeness to Allah Most High.
Apart from this, facing financial problems, diseases, separation from loved ones and being patient on it; not letting it affect one’s religious life – either outwardly or inwardly; considering the difficulty as the Will of Allah Most High – this is the greatest accomplishment and triumph. This is the privilege of those closest to Allah Most High alone.
In courage and bravery and grit, the women of the Prophet’s time were more courageous and braver than those who were regarded as bravehearts. If the situation demanded fighting with the disbelievers and the men fought, then the women also would be alongside them – tending to the fallen. When their own husbands, brothers, fathers, etc. would fall in the battlefield, the women would be steadfast in their patience. Their lips would never utter a single syllable of objection or complaint. Many examples of this can be found in Islamic history.
It is mentioned about the beloved aunt of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in Seerat Ibn Hisham:
Translation: Hadhrat Safiya (May Allah be well pleased with her) came to see Hadhrat Hamza (May Allah be well pleased with him). Hadhrat Hamza (May Allah be well pleased with him) was her blood brother. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) sent Hadhrat Zubair bin ‘Awwam (May Allah be well pleased with him) with the order: Persuade my aunt to return. Let her not see how her brother has been treated.
Hadhrat Zubair (May Allah be well pleased with him) went and requested her: O mother! The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has ordered you to return.
She rejoined: Why? I know that the body of my brother has been mutilated. All this has happened in the way of Allah Most High. (Seerat Ibn Hisham, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 97)
