Test of Allah's love

 

It is possible that hearing this some obstinate person says:  We have achieved the objective of our lives.  We have acquired love of Allah.  It will be told to that person:  Every piece of gold claims to be pure gold.  Only the touchstone reveals whether it is pure or impure.  In the same way, there is a touchstone for the love of Allah Most High as well.  This will reveal whether the love of Allah Most High has been acquired or not. 

 

Come let’s ask the beloved:  What is the test of Your love?  He says:

 

‘Say (O! beloved Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), to mankind) If you love Allah, follow me’

 

If you truly love Us, follow the footsteps of our Prophet, make His words and actions so binding on yourself that neither the thought of showing off remains nor any happiness or sorrow.  This is the touchstone of Our love.

 

O you who claim to have love of Allah Most High!  If you oppose the Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and still claim to have true love for Allah, then surely you are laboring under a delusion.  Set yourselves right as soon as possible.  Follow the Prophet of Allah, in words and deeds, in etiquette and states.  In your life, in your beliefs, walk on the path of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  You will be counted among those who truly love Allah Most High.  If you are bereft of this, then realize that you are bereft of the love of Allah Most High as well.

 

What a strange thing love is!  When someone falls in love with someone, then the falls in love with someone then even the flaws and defects of the beloved don’t strike one as flaws anymore.  We see this day and night.  A small child whose nose is running, who is drooling, whose hands and feet are covered in dust and dirt, whose clothes are dirty, other women are disgusted with that child.  But when the same child goes to his mother and casts the effect of his tiny heart, the mother becomes restless and unreservedly picks up the child, clasps the child to her bosom, wipes away the snot with her own hands and cleans all the filth.

 

This is the miracle of love.  When through the obedience of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), Almighty Allah starts loving us, then even though we will be covered with the filth of sins, but Allah Most High will accept us and what does He do?  Forgives your sins.  The way the mother cleans the child of snot, in the same way the Lord who loves us will also purify us of all sins.  And why not?  He is the One whose attribute is All forgiving, Merciful.
