Some sayings of Imam Jafar Sadiq (May Allah be well pleased with him)

The Imam, Hadhrat Abu Ja'afar Sadiq (May Allah be well pleased with him) was born on the 8th of Ramadhan, 83 Hijri.

Here we present some of his sayings:

For the bounty to be lasting, thankfulness, for increase in one’s sustenance, repentance and for fulfillment of wishes, La Haula Wa La Quwwata……… respectively are very effective.

The Lord Almighty has ordered the world:  O world!  You should be the handmaid of those who serve me and you should spurn those who run after you.  (Hilyatul Auliya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 480)

Not doing good deeds and still hoping for paradise is to shoot arrows from a bow, which has no bowstring.

The Imam would often pray thus:

Transliteration:  Allahumma A'izzinee Bi Ta'atika Wa La Tukhzinee Bi Ma'asiyatika.  Allahummarzuqnee Muwaasata Man Qatarta Alaihi Rizqahu Bi Ma Was’ita 'Alayya Min Fadhlik.

Translation:  O Allah!  Dignify me with your obedience.  Don’t debase me with sins.  O Allah!  Guide me to help those for whom you have straitened their sustenance with the wealth, which you have graced me with.

There is no provision better than piety, there is nothing better than silence, there is no enemy more harmful than ignorance and there is no disease fatal than lying.  (Hilyatul Auliya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 481)

After belief in Almighty Allah, the root of all wisdom is to deal with people lovingly.  (Hilyatul Auliya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 485)

The Imam narrates on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Akrama, who narrates on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them), who says that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Whoever says:  “Jazallahu ‘Anna Sayyidina Muhammadan Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam bima huwa Ahluhu,” which means “May Almighty Allah grant reward to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) on our behalf as it befits Him,” then that person keeps 70,000 angels busy in writing the reward of that for 1000 days.  (Hilyatul Auliya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 486)

He passed away in Madina in the month of Shawwal and as per another version, on the 15th of Rajab 168 Hijri.
