Extension lectures on the topic “Azmate Mustafa” (i.e. the greatness of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)) were held at Masjid Abul Hasanaat under the auspices of Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center. On this occasion, Maulana Shah Muhammad Faseehuddin Nizami, Chief Librarian, Jamia Nizamia, gave a lecture on the status of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as the teacher of the Book of Allah Most High and wisdom.
He said that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is the fount of all kinds of knowledge and intricacies. He is a boundless ocean of outward and inward knowledge and everyone draws benefit from Him. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is not only the teacher, but also the disseminator of wisdom. The world gets all and any kind of knowledge through the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Himself. The revered Maulana Faseehuddin said that in verse no. 129 of Surah Baqarah mentions 3 attributes of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):
1. He reads out the verses of the Holy Quran.
2. He teaches the Book of Allah and wisdom
3. He purifies the hearts with His spiritual power.
He described various meanings of the wisdom and said that keeping everything in its proper place and proportion is wisdom. Wisdom is also explained as wisdom. Explaining and interpreting the words of the Holy Quran in such a manner that the intent of Almighty Allah is revealed is also called wisdom. He stressed that Muslims should also acquire wisdom along with knowledge and should illuminate the world with knowledge and wisdom. It is mentioned in verse no. 269 of Surah Baqarah that the one who has been granted wisdom has been granted a lot of good. The revered Maulana showed the difference between knowledge and wisdom. That’s the reason why in the blessed attributes of Almighty Allah Aleem and Hakeem are 2 separate attributes. This itself shows that knowledge and wisdom are 2 separate entities. At 36 places in the Holy Quran, Allah Most High is mentioned as Aleem and Hakeem. The propagation of Islam can be undertaken with wisdom only. An untrained person who takes up this task can harm this cause much more than an avowed enemy can. On this occasion, he praised the tasks and activities of Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center and said that AHIRC is performing the task of ideological and intellectual preparation of the Ummah.
Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia and Founder-Director AHIRC, spoke on the etiquette and manners to be followed in the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in light of the Holy Quran. The revered Mufti said that the Holy Quran has described the etiquette of the blessed court of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in various ways. How should one approach Him, one’s speech, the tone of the voice, everything has been described in the Holy Quran. He said that the rules and regulations of the courts of the important people of the world are described by other people. The etiquette of the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) are described by Allah Most High Himself.
In the first verse of Surah Hujuraat, Almighty Allah has ordered Muslims not to precede the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in speech and other tasks. Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran:
O believers! Do not step ahead of Allah and His Messenger ([blessings and peace be upon him] in any matter) and keep fearing Allah (lest some discourtesy should occur displeasing the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him]). Surely, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. Surah Hujuraat (49:1)
It is understood that no one can step ahead of Almighty Allah. In spite of it, Almighty Allah orders it so that it becomes understood that preceding the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is to precede Allah Most High. With the next words (Wattaqoo) it has been made clear that one should be mindful of doing/saying anything which can be construed as disrespect.
The revered Mufti that the Holy Quran doesn’t only order one to desist from preceding the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), it also orders us not to speak loudly before Him, but that one’s voice should be lowered. Similarly, one shouldn’t talk as if one is talking to any common person. Respect and reverence should be maintained. On any disrespect of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), all the deeds that one has performed in a lifetime will be destroyed.
The revered Mufti said that one shouldn’t use any word for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) which might have a disrespectful connotation is some other language as well. Other Prophets have been addressed by their names. However, Almighty Allah has used such titles and honorifics for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), which show the high status and excellence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
The session ended with Salaam and Dua. Maulana Hafidh Muhammad Khalid Qadri, Teacher, Jamia Nizamia, led the proceedings.
