Keeping driving license, bus pass, currency notes in pocket while offering Salaat
Question:
On the driving license, bus pass, on currency notes have photos/images on them and keeping them at the ready is also necessary. Is the Salaat affected if these things are there in the pocket while offering Salaat
Answer:
The photos/images which are on the driving license, bus pass, i.d. card etc., if present in the pocket of the person offering Salaat do not affect the Salaat in any way as they are hidden and covered. If any photo/image is in front of the worshipper, or on the right or on the left or above the worshipper, or on the place of prostration or on the person of the worshipper, then the Salaat becomes Undesirable. (makruh). However, there is no undesirability if the photos/images are present on the sitting area or under the feet of the worshipper. Undesirability is when the photos/images are placed in a position of respect or when they are highlighted. If the photos are not placed in a position of respect or in a position of disrespect, but are covered, then according to the Shariah, there is no undesirability.
