Is eating Gutkha Haram? Some people say it is similar to suicide.
Eating so much of Gutkha that it harms the health is forbidden (Haraam) as mentioned in the verses of the Holy Quran. If it is used in a quantity that does not affect the health, then there is no reason for declaring it as forbidden, as the reason for its being forbidden is the harmful effect on the health. In a situation, where health is not affected, but it is undesirable because of its smell, then it is only Undesirable (Makruh). It cannot be declared forbidden only because of the undesirability. If there is no harm, it cannot be declared as similar to suicide.
And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
