Zakaat on gold medals

Asslamalaikum Wa Rahmataullahi Wa Barakutuhu,


I wanted to ask you about Zakaat on gold medals, when we don’t know how much of gold is there in it?



Walaikum As Salaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakutuhu,

Zakaat is an Islamic duty, which is obligatory (Fardh) on every person whose wealth reaches the prescribed limits, i.e.60 gm 755 gm of gold or 425 gm 285 mg of silver.

You please get the amount of gold in the medals checked.  If it reaches the prescribed limits, then giving Zakaat on them is Fardh on you.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
