Shaykh Ul Islam Conference held

 

Shaykh Ul Islam Conference (in Urdu, English and Telugu) was organized by Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center on February 27, 2015, at MF Garden, Toli Chowki in connection with the Centenary Urs of Shaykh Ul Islam Imam Muhammad Anwaarullah Farooqui (May Allah shower His Mercy on him).

 

The conference was presided over by Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed Sahab, Shaykh Ul Jamia, Jamia Nizamia; chief patron, AHIRC.  It was chaired by Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Azeemuddin Naqshbandi Sahab, Mufti, Jamia Nizamia.

 

The conference started with recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulana Hafiz Syed Bahauddin Zubair Naqshbandi (Alim, Jamia Nizamia).

 

National and international scholars, research scholars and intellectuals addressed the conference in Urdu, English and Telugu.  The audience were reminded of the services of Shaykh Ul Islam on the Ummah in general and on the residents of Deccan in particular.

 

Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed Sahab said in his presidential address that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam was truly accomplished in every sense of the word.  He was a great scholar as well as a great Sufi.  He was not only a great reformer of the community, but also a great poet and litterateur, as well as an interpreter of the Holy Quran, a jurist and an expert on Hadith.  His piety was proverbial.  He was a picture of his forefather Hadhrat ‘Umar Al Farooq (May Allah be well pleased with him).

 

Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam reformed the community at every level and strata.  He taught and instructed the scholars, the common people, the nobles and the kings.  It is the result of all this that we see religiosity and Islamic fervor in Deccan today.

 

It was on the suggestion of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam that Osmania University was founded.  Anwaar Ul Uloom College which is now an autonomous graduation college was named after him.  A student of Hadhrat Shaykh U lslam, Maulana ‘Abdur Razzaq (May Allah shower His Mercy on him), established this college in the name of his illustrious teacher.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam arranged for higher education in Persian in Deccan.  Thus, the studies for which students had to go to Punjab, etc., were made available and easily accessible in Hyderabad itself.  The effect of this is that a non-Muslim scholar has written an interpretation of the 99 Attributes of Allah Most High in Persian in verse.

 

The honorable Deputy Chief Minister of Telanagana, Muhammad Mahmood Ali appreciated the effort of AHIRC in organizing the conference.  He said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam came to Deccan on the orders of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and served Islamic sciences.  Not only the common people, even kings drew benefit fro m him.  He said that Jamia Nizamia is a great asset for the community and the nation.  The honorable Deputy Chief Minister urged the youth to read the books of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam.  He said that by walking in the footsteps of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam, we can regain our lost glory.

 

Respected Al Haj Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri, MLA, Charminar constituency, and General Secretary, AIMIM, said that the Muslims of Deccan are truly self-sufficient in matters of faith.  Jamia Nizamia established by Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam holds a unique position.  All the scholarly organizations of the world look upon it with respect and admiration.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam is not only a scholar but also a Sufi.  He drew spiritual benefit directly from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Himself.

 

Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia, and Founder-Director, AHIRC, said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam is that sun of knowledge and gnosis which dawned on the horizon of Deccan and illuminated the whole world.  The scholars of the Arab and non-Arab lands admire and acknowledge the knowledge and erudition of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam alike.  Dr. Ibrahim Salah Al Hudhud, the vice president of Jamia Azhar said in his recent tour of Hyderabad:  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam had accomplished such works in that era that none in the Arab lands were able to do so [end of quote].  The scholarly efforts of Shaykh Ul Islam are a great chapter of history unto themselves.  His books and writings are admired the world over.

 

Those who wanted to oppose Islam were using science as a tool to attack the philosophy of Islam.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam stepped up to the challenge and analyzed the scientific studies of the times and then refuted the arguments put forth against Islam.

 

Respected Syed Shah Jamalullah Qadri Khusro Sahab, President, Urdu Academy, Jeddah; member, advisory board, AHIRC, addressed the audience in English.  He said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam was en eminent Sufi saint.  He trained the kings of the times.  He banned intoxicants, dances by courtesans, etc.  He appointed qualified Imams for the mosques.  He made Islamic studies compulsory in all government schools. 

 

Maulvi Syed Nooruddin Zuhair Naqshbandi spoke in English.  He said that in his books, Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam established the respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) from the Holy Quran and the Hadith.  He quoted from the books of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam that Hadhrat Abu Bakr (May Allah be well pleased with him) was leading the Salaat.  When he learnt that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) had come, he stepped back and later said: How can the son of Abu Quhafa dare to lead Salaat when you are there!

 

Maulvi Syed Badruddin Junaid Naqshbandi spoke in English about the reformative accomplishment of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam.  He said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam was appointed the Director of religious affairs and that there was no area of life in which the efforts of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam were not felt.  Maulvi Abraiz Ali Khan Naqshbandi, translator, AHIRC, spoke in English.  He said that Fiqh (jurisprudence) and Taqleed is nothing but the proper understanding of the Holy Quran and Hadith.  It is not for everyone to extract and deduce rules from the Holy Quran and Hadith.

 

Maulana Mirza Khairullah Baiq Qadri, Vice President, AHIRC, Yemmiganur branch, addressed the audience in Telugu.  He said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam played a central role in ensuring peace and prosperity in Deccan.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam described principles for the maintenance of peace in the society.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam said that by promoting virtues, evil is by itself wiped out.

 

Maulana Hafiz Syed Misbahuddin Umair Naqshbandi, (Alim, Jamia Nizamia) recited poetry in praise of Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam composed by Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi.

 

Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Khalid Ali Qadri, Teacher, Jamia Nizamia, said in his introductory address that Jamia Nizamia and Daairatul Ma’arif have put India on the map in the Arab world.  Maulana Hafiz Syed Wahed Ali Qadri, Teacher, Jamia Nizamia, gave the welcome address.  He said that Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam reformed the society at every level.

 

The chairman of the conference said the Dua at the conclusion of the conference.  Maulana Qari Shafee Muhammad Khan Naqshbandi presented the Salaam.
