The divine secrets of the blessed name "Muhammad"
(Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
Prophethood, which is a great station in the kingdom of Allah Most High, started with Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), as He Himself says that He was a Prophet even when Prophet Adam (May peace be upon him) was not yet created. (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 3968; Mustadarak ‘Alas Sahihain, Hadith No. 4174; Musnad Iman Ahmad bin Hambal, Hadith No. 17075).
Then all the Prophets have been made His Ummah, as it was not only commanded that they believe in Him, but also their acknowledgement was treated with great seriousness.
And, ( O Beloved, recall the time) when Allah took a firm covenant from the Prophets: ‘When I give you the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you the Messenger (who is exalted in glory above all and) who shall validate the Books you will have with you, you shall then, most certainly, believe in him and most surely help him.’ Allah said: ‘Do you affirm, and on this (condition) hold fast to My heavy
Covenant?’ All submitted: ‘We affirm.’ Allah said: ‘Bear witness then and I am also with you among the witnesses.’ Surah Al Imran (3:81)
This shows that all the Prophets are His Ummah. For this reason, on the Day of Judgment, all the Prophets will be under His standard. In the night of Ascension, the status of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was shown to all Prophets. Thus, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was made the Imam and all the Prophets followed His lead (in Salaat).
When this is the state of all the Prophets, then what reservation is there in accepting that their Ummah are also the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)?
That is why the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) says: I have been sent towards all humans and Allah Most High says:
And, (O Esteemed Prophet,) We have not sent you but as a Bearer of the glad tidings and as a Warner to the entire mankind, but most people do not know. Surah Saba (34:28)
Although Prophet Moosa (May peace be upon him) is included in His Ummah in the manner stated above, when he saw the excellence of the actual nation of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), he desired that he should be included in them physically as well.
In the spiritual worlds, for the fame of His name, the method used is that Allah Most High has written His name, "Muhammad ur Rasoolullah," on the the throne (‘Arsh) and at different places in each heaven, on the plants/trees of paradise, on each leaf of Tooba and Sidratul Muntaha, on the bosoms of the damsels of paraidse and on the foreheads of the angels.
As long as Prophet Adam (May peace be upon him) did not invoke the name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in the words: O Lord! For the sake of Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), forgive me," he was not pardoned. (Mustadarak ‘Alas Sahihain, Hadith No. 4194; Mo’jam Ausat Tabarani, Hadith No. 6690; Mo’jam Sagheer Tabarani, Hadith No. 989; Dalaail Un Nubuwwah, Hadith No. 2243; Majma ‘Uz Zawaaid, Hadith No. 13917; Kanz ul ‘Ummaal, Hadith No. 32318)
This is also mentioned in many other Hadith, which are mentioned in Khasaais Ul Kubra, Mawahib Al Ladunniya, Al Shifa of Imam Qadhi Iyadh, which shows that the blessed name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is written all over the spiritual realms.
The objective of this is obvious that all the denizens of the spiritual realms understand that there is no one more beloved to Allah Most High than the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Thus, this is what Prophet Adam (May peace be upon him) thought and desired forgiveness by invoking the name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
Now let us see why this blessed name was ordained for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). The fact is that praise (hamd in Arabic) is much liked by Allah Most High, as is established in the Hadith. For this reason, the Holy Quran starts with praise of Allah Most High.
In Salaat, which is the best of all forms of worship, every Raka’at of it starts with Surah Al Hamd and even the believers enter paradise, they will do so praising Allah Most High:
(Finding these blessings and bounties,) they will pray in these (Gardens): ‘Holy You are, O Allah!’ and the word of their mutual greetings will be: ‘Peace.’ (Or the word for their reception from Allah and the angels will be: ‘Peace.’) And their supplication will end (with these words): ‘All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’ Surah Younus (10:10)
Now once we h ave seen that all praise is established for Allah Most High alone. This in turn means that everyone praises Allah Most High (Hamid in Arabic) and Allah Most High is the Praised One (Mahmood in Arabic). Thus, there should be no hesitation in saying that Allah Most High is "Muhammad" i.e. one who has been praised.
In spite of all this, Allah Most High has individualized this name from time immemorial for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and from the beginning of creation, has made it famous in the spiritual realms, so that it becomes obvious to the denizens of paradise that the one to whom the name which signifies the Lord Almighty Himself is given, He must indeed have no peer in the whole universe.
This proves without doubt that there is no one comparable to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), as now it is impossible that somebody else should be "Muhammad" from time immemorial and this also shows that how much ever the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is praised, it is a means of pleasing Allah Most High. Otherwise, what else would have been intended in granting this honorofic?
That is why the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would be pleased on listening to couplets in His praise (Na’at), as it is a means of pleasing Allah Most High.
It is written in An Nahjatus Sawiyya that the title of the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has been mentioned in the past divine books as those who praise (Hammadeen). No wonder if this title implies that they will praise their Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) greatly.
Although, there are other names of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), but as this blessed name is most beloved to Allah Most High, our faith has a special relationship with this name. Thus it is written in An Nahjatus Sawiyya that as long as a person does not say Muhammad Ur Rasoolullah tt person’s faith is not perfect and saying "Ahmad" instead is not enough.
