Hadhrat Abul Khair Syed Rahmatullah Shah Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Qadri
(May Allah shower His Mercy on him)
Abul Khair Hadhrat Syed Rahmatullah Shah Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Qadri (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) passed away on this day (i.e. 28th Shawwal) into the presence of Allah at the age of 80, 3 years ago.
He was the youngest son and caliph of the great Hadith expert and jurist, Abul Hasanaat Hadhrat Syed Abdullah Shah Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Qadri (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) and the youngest brother of the great Sufi Abul Barakaat Hadhrat Syed Khaleelullah Shah Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Qadri (May Allah shower His Mercy on him). He is the descendent of Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) through 46 generations.
Hadhrat Abul Khair was born in a house which was illuminated with the light of Islamic knowledge and sciences. He grew up under the tutelage of a great saint i.e. Hadhrat Muhaddith-e-Deccan (May Allah shower His Mercy on him). Thus, he himself became a master of the normative and spiritual sciences, a personification of high morals, an illustration of all praiseworthy attributes, a great Sufi and the very embodiment of Shariah and Tariqah.
Almighty Allah had granted him both the sciences of the Shariah and the sciences of Islamic spirituality (Tariqah). He was the very embodiment of blessings and not only the people of Deccan, but millions of people from all over the country and all over the world derived benefit and blessings from him.
Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) led a model life. His life and daily schedule was the practical explanation of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. He was so meticulous about following the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that whether at home or when in a journey, he would miss no Sunnah. He would always be busy in the remembrance of Allah Most High.
He became the Sajjada Nasheen in 1425 Hijri after the demise of Abul Khairaat Hadhrat Syed Anwarullah Shah Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Qadri (May Allah shower His Mercy on him). His favors on the Ummah in terms of the reformation of the populace and spread of Tasawwuf are too great to be enumerated. The Ummah can never forget or ignore them. Innumerable people benefited from Hadhrat Abul Khair. His disciples are not only in India but are spread out in the whole world. Many Islamic scholars and Hafidh of the Holy Quran gave their pledge to him.
Hadhrat Abul Khair was a very humble and magnanimous person. He was a person of few words. He would speak less but heartwarmingly.
In spite of being accomplished in the normative sciences and being a great saint of Almighty Allah, he was very humble. His forbearance and magnanimity were proverbial. Along with asceticism and contentment, he would speak very less. He would pay special attention to the disciples. If he would see someone doing something against the Shariah, he would advise the person against it in such a beautiful manner that that person would forever stay away from that sin.
Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) would enliven his nights with the worship of Allah Most High. He would contemplate and reflect over the meanings of the Holy Quran at night. During those hours, he would be enraptured. In the day, he would fulfill the responsibility of guiding the creation of Allah Most High. Without any discrimination of religion or community, a great number of people drew benefit from him.
Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) had kept his heart clear of all worldly thoughts. He would never allow his daily engagements to be disturbed. His whole life, he offered the 5 daily Salaat congregationally in the mosque. Even if he had to undertake a journey, he would plan the journey in such a manner that during the journey, every Salaat would be offered congregationally. His whole life was an embodiment of fear and consciousness of Allah Most High. He was the living testament to the accomplishments of his masters and a shining example for those who come after him.
A small miracle of Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him)
A person from Jeddah had requested Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi to request Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) for his gracious prayers. His problem was that his company was being transferred from Jeddah to Riyadh. As everyone knows, visiting the 2 Holy Cities is easy for those who live in Jeddah, while it is very difficult for those who live in Riyadh.
Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi related this to Hadhrat Abul Khair (May Allah shower His Mercy on him). Our Shaykh told Mufti Syed Ziauddin to ask that person to recite the Wazifa of Bismillah, (which is a Wazifa given by the Shaykhs of this order). When Mufti Sahab tried to call this person to convey this, for some reason the call wouldn’t go through. Thus, Mufti Sahab had to postpone conveying this information. The next day, this person himself called Mufti Sahab and told him that his whole company got transferred to Riyadh but this person alone had to stay in Jeddah.
This shows that whatever our elders ask us to do, viz. prayers, recitations, etc., they are to ensure that we don’t become heedless. Our recitations don’t change our fate. It is only the grace of our elders that changes our fate.
