An introduction to Noor Ul Masabeeh
In the words of Hadhrat Muhaddith-e-Deccan himself
(May Allah shower His Mercy on him)
O Muslims! Listen carefully. Almighty Allah has a special rule only for Muslims. It is that the worldly life of Muslims is connected to their religious life. When Muslims abandon their religion, their worldly life also goes downhill. When they ruin their religion, their worldly life is also ruined. Someone might think: I am religious and still why is my worldly life still being ruined?
Then friends, we are like that person who has earned a single rupee and considers himself to be rich. Be frank! No one considers a person who has only 1 rupee as rich. Instead, the person who has lots and lots of money is truly rich. Similarly, the person who does 1 or 2 good deeds and considers himself (or herself) as religious also deserves to be called a lunatic. You will be worthy of being considered a religious person after you perform all those things which are prescribed in (our) religion.
This can also be understood with the illustration that only that person will be considered beautiful whose eyes, nose, etc. are all fine. If a person whose nose has been cut off, covers his (disfigured) nose and claims to be beautiful, then let him just remove his hand which is covering the nose, then we will know how “beautiful” that person is. In the same way, we are (wrongly) considering ourselves religious. When the truth about religion is revealed as to what exactly constitutes our religion, then you will also have to be embarrassed like the person with the disfigured nose.
Or think that you tell a person that you require a man. After a long time, that friend brings to you a bed-ridden man, who has almost all conceivable diseases. Neither does he have eyes nor ears. His hands and feet are also useless. However, that person is alive. If someone murders him, then the law will execute the murderer. But will this man be of any use to you? Of course not! You will incredulously ask your friend as to why he brought that person. If that friend says that you had asked me for a man and I have brought this man, then you will laugh. You will say that even though linguistically and legally, this is a man, but when he is of no use to me, then to me he is not a man at all.
Friends! In the same way, we need to understand the purpose of religion, whether it is absolute deliverance or simply a sort of culture. There is complete neglect about what it means to be a Muslim. Neither does one care about the beliefs nor has any care for the deeds. Neither does one have any thought about social etiquette nor any regret on bad manners. No part of our religion is intact and sound. Our religion is like the aforementioned “man” which that friend had brought. (If) our religion is only a communal culture, then we do not deserve to be called religious because of thatt. When we are not religious, how can our worldly life go right?
Friends! If you want to know the truth about our religion, read “Zujaajatul Masabeeh.” Then act upon it and become worthy of being called religious. After reading Zujaajatul Masabeeh, your knowledge of certainty (Ilm Ul Yaqeen) will be transformed into the discernment of certainty (‘Ain Ul Yaqeen) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is surely the Last and Final Prophet and after Him no other Prophet is needed. Whatever was necessary to set right the worldly life and the life of the hereafter, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has described all that in absolute terms. And all that has come in Zujaajatul Masabeeh.
With the revolutions of the world, Arabic has not remained understandable by one and all. It was necessary that this book be translated into Urdu. In light of this, Maulvi Muhammad Muneeruddin (now deceased, may Allah shower His Mercy on him), (former) Shaykh Ul Hadith, Jamia Nizamia, has started translating Zujaajatul Masabeeh into lucid, easily understandable Urdu. Maulvi Sahib is thanked on behalf of all Muslims for this, that he has provided an opportunity for all Muslims to understand Zujaajatul Masabeeh.
Before the publication of this translation, Maulvi Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan (now deceased, may Allah shower His Mercy on him), MA, lecturer of Arabic, Osmania University, worked hard and gave up his valuable time to add the information given in brackets and to add further useful information underneath the heading of “Faaida.” This has doubled the beauty of the translation. The difficulties which were being faced in understanding Zujaajatul Masabeeh are now resolved. For this, he is thanked on behalf of all Muslims
May Allah Most High make these intellectual efforts of these folk a continuously benefitting charity (Sadqa Jaariya) for them and keep granting them the reward of this. May He be pleased with them in lieu of this and may He grant them great reward and please them as well.
I have been present with them at the time of translation and when adding the (aforementioned) brackets and sub-headings. I have named this translation Noor Ul Masabeeh. May Allah Most High accept this. Aameen.
The first volume of Noor Ul Masabeeh is before you. When you read it, you will feel as if you are in the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) – He is speaking and you are listening to Him. Or you will feel that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is doing something and you are watching Him. Lucky indeed are those people who gain this bounty.
Now my urgent request to all Muslims and especially to my own people is not to read Noor Ul Masabeeh just once, then place it on the shelf and forget about it. Instead, like books of litanies and recitations, read it again and again, and always try to act upon it.
O Allah! You are ours, please make us also Yours. Guide us to follow Your Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in words and deeds. Aameen
