A Commendable act does not become Obligatory if performed regularly
Weekly lecture of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi
The mark of a true believer is that he/she obeys the laws given by Allah Most High. He does those things which Allah Most High orders him/her to do and stays away from those things which Allah Most High prohibits him/her from. Thus, a true believer should be meticulous in performance of Obligatory (Fardh) acts and should also perform the Sunnah and Commendable (Mustahab) acts.
If someone regularly performs a Commendable act, that act is not elevated to the level of an Obligatory act. It still remains Commendable only.
These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.
The revered Mufti said that Allah Most High has ordered us to eat pure things and to stay away from impure things. Allah Most High says regarding this in the Holy Quran:
(They are the people) who follow the Messenger, the Prophet (titled as) al-Ummi (who imparts to the people from Allah the news of the unseen and knowledge and secrets of socio-economic disciplines of life without himself being taught by any human in the world); whose (eminent attributes and exquisite powers) these people find written in the Torah and the Injil (Gospel); who enjoins on them virtues and forbids them vices, declares wholesome things lawful and impure ones unlawful for them Surah A’araaf (7:157)
So always eat of that (slaughtered animal) over which the Name of Allah has been pronounced (at the time of slaughter) if you believe in His Revelations. Surah An’aam (6:118)
If an animal slaughtered with the name of Allah Most High and that slaughtering is on behalf of someone else, that animal still remains permissible (Halaal) because while slaughtering the name of Allah Most High was mentioned as is done at the time of slaughtering the animals in ‘Eid Ul Azha, ‘Aqeeqa, Walima, etc. Similarly, if someone’s name is taken to include them in the reward, the slaughtered remains permissible. The same is mentioned in the Hadith of Sunan Ibn Majah:
It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Aisha and Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with them) that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would decide to slaughter an animal, He would select 2 plump, horned, spotted and castrated goats and would sacrifice one on the behalf of those people of the Ummah who testified to the Unity of Allah Most High and the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and another on behalf of Himself and His family. (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith No: 3113).
This shows that if an animal is said to be “for someone” either before or after slaughter, the slaughter itself is correct.
The revered Mufti quoted the following verse of the Holy Quran:
And what is the matter with you that you do not eat of that (meat) over which the Name of Allah has been pronounced (at the time of slaughter? Surah Ana’am (6:119)
He invited one and all to understand the Holy Quran and described in detail the benefits of doing so.
Before the lecture, Syed Jamalullah Qadri Khusro, President, Urdu Academy, Jeddah, expressed his happiness at the weekly lectures of AHIRC. He said it is our responsibility to pass on the extremely important knowledge that is being received from Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi to our family, friends and acquaintances. He also said that we should convey them to our children as well. Whatever we have learnt, we should pass it on to others in our own way. He emphasized that these scholars have spent their entire lives for the Holy Quran and the Hadith and we should swiftly derive whatever benefit we can from them.
Janab Ghulam Asif Samdani, Chairman, Urdu Academy, Jeddah, said that he was extremely moved to see the great number of young people in the lecture session. He said that Qadianism is spreading over to various places and poor and naïve folk are falling prey to it. He said that in light of this, these lecture sessions are doubly important and the presence of youth in these sessions is indeed commendable. He said that the priceless Islamic knowledge is being disseminated worldwide through www.ziaislamic.com. This is really appreciable.
