The superiority of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) - (II)

[The first part of this article ran here.  This is the second part]

When other Prophets would be taunted by the nations they were sent to, the Prophets themselves would answer to them.  For e.g.

…We find you in clear error.  Surah A’araaf (07:60)

Nooh (May peace be upon him) himself answers:

He said: ‘O my people, there is not any error in me.  Surah A’araaf (07:61)

The nation of Prophet Hud (May peace be upon him) said:

…we certainly find you (steeped) in foolishness…  Surah A’araaf (07:66)

Hud (May peace be upon him) replies:

He said: ‘O my people, there is no foolishness about me….  Surah A’araaf (07:67)

Pharaoh taunts Hadhrat Moosa (May peace be upon him):

O Moosa!  It seems that someone has bewitched you.  Surah Isra (17:101)

Moosa (May peace be upon him) replies:

O Pharaoh, in my opinion you are going to perish soon.  Surah Isra (17:102)

When our Prophet is objected to by the disbelievers as being misguided, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) doesn’t reply to it.  Instead, Allah Most High answers it at another place:

By the star, when it moves….Surah Najm (53:01)

A transgressor calls the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) a lunatic.  Allah Most High replies to it:

(O Esteemed Beloved!) By the Grace of your Lord, you are not (at all) insane.  Surah Qalam (68:02)

A disbeliever called the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) a poet and a sorcerer.  Allah Most High answers on behalf of the Prophet:

And it is not the poetry of a poet (composed with literary expertise). You have but little faith.  Nor is it the word of a fortune-teller.  Surah Al Haaqqa  (69:40, 41)

Another disbeliever said the same thing.  Almighty Allah enumerated 10 blameworthy traits which that wretch had:

And do not agree with any vile, most mean swearer of oaths, (The one who is) a slanderer, fault-finder, mischief-monger, (and) who backbites the people to rouse strife, (The one who) greatly hinders pious works and is a miser, rebellious transgressor (and) toughened sinner, (The one who is) rude, unmannerly, crooked and moreover of illegitimate birth.  Surah Qalam.  (68: 10-13)

When the son of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) passed away, a wretch taunted the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as Abtar, one whose lineage has ended and who will be forgotten.  Allah Most High granted the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) the best of all things:

1.  Among directions, the Ka’aba:

So We will indeed make you turn towards that Qibla (direction of Prayer) with which you feel pleased.   Surah Baqarah (2: 144)

2.  The Lord granted the Prophet from His own attributes:

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would give with such generosity that He wouldn’t have any fear of starvation for Himself.

3.  Among the forms of worship:  Jihaad i.e. striving against the disbelievers:

…Strive against the disbelievers…Surah Tauba (09:73)

4.  From among the stations, the station of Mahmood.

Your Lord will certainly grant You the station of Mahmood (high praise).  Surah isra (17:79)

5.  From among the names, Muhammad

And Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is a Prophet….Surah Aale Imran (03:144)

16.  From among the progeny, the Imams, Hasan and Hussain (May Allah be well pleased with them).

18.  From among the religions, the religion of Islam, which is the best of all religions.

19.  From among the mountains, Safa and Marwa, which are the most distinguished of all mountains.

20.  From among the buildings, the mosques, which are extremely blessed.

21.  From among the many attributes of men, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was given the attribute of Taqwa (piety).

28.  From among the dreams, the Prophet has been given the virtuous dreams.

31.  From among the various remembrances of Allah Most High, the best of all Laa Ilaaha Illallah…

32.  From among the many progeny of Adam (May peace be upon him), this nation which is the best of all.

If Allah Most High has given all the best things to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), why wonder?  Those who are beloved are surely granted.  The real wonder is that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), who is the Beloved of Allah Most High, has been given to us:

Indeed, Allah conferred a great favor on the believers that He raised amongst them (the most eminent) Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) from amongst themselves….Surah Aale ‘Imran (03:163)
