Khaja Ghareebnawaz – A great master of spirituality
(May Allah shower His Mercy on him)
Weekly lecture of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi
Hadhrat Khaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is one of those rare historical figures whom Allah Most High has granted the sciences of Islam and treasures of spiritual knowledge and has seated him on the highest stations of sainthood. Hadhrat Khaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) propagated Islam through his knowledge, his deeds, words, his spirituality and esoteric powers.
It is a great favor of Hadhrat Ghareebnawaz on Muslims in general and on the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent in particular that he fulfilled the responsibility of spreading Islam in the Indian subcontinent. The Khaja came here on the orders of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and turned this land into a hub of illumination.
Before the Khaja, Islam had entered some parts of the subcontinent. Even some Companions of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) had landed on the coastal areas. Islam had come through the armies and conquests of Muslim kings as well. However, the length and breadth of the country was illuminated with Islam through Hadhrat Khaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His Mercy on him).
These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.
The revered Mufti said that the Khaja is a descendent of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) through both his parents. The Khaja also received special blessings from the court of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). The Khaja is the inheritor of both the normative and esoteric sciences and great master of spirituality.
Before the Khaja, this land was covered in the gloom of atheism and/or polytheism. It was an atmosphere of oppression and barbarism. Racism and class differences led to inhuman tortures. The poor folk were exploited to no end and the weak would be the target of oppression. In such dangerous times, the Khaja upheld the beacon of Islam, dispelled the darkness of atheism and polytheism. The Khaja gave the lesson of humanizing etiquette and promoted brotherhood among one and all.
The Khaja didn’t spread Islam with weapons and violence, but with pure character and patronizing manners. The revered Mufti said that the Khaja was the very embodiment of patience and reliance on Allah Most High. The Khaja had to face many difficulties in spreading Islam. He faced each difficulty with courage and steadfastness.
The speech and custom of the Khaja was so overwhelming that even the hardest hearts would be moved to accept the truth. The heartfelt words of the Khaja would move the most rebellious person who had never bowed to the Lord Almighty and grant them the ecstasy of worshipping their Lord Almighty.
The revered Mufti said that the Khaja has instructed us to establish absolute love of Allah Most High and His Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and to follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
The Khaja said that if we end up committing sins, we should not delay our repentance. Salaat should be offered in its proper times. When we go to the graveyard, we should draw lesson from the deceased. If you realize what the deceased have to face below our feet, we would go mad with fear. The Khaja has instructed us to hold fast to the Shariah and not to follow our own whims and desires.
The session ended with Salaam and Dua.
