A special miracle of the friends of Allah Most High

The miracles of the saints are well established by the Holy Quran and Hadith.  Hadhrat Shaykh Ul Islam Imam Muhammad Anwaarullah Farooqui (May Allah sanctify his secret) writes:

…..when it has been proved beyond doubt and thousands of intellectuals accept it, then there is no reason as to why the saints cannot be present at more than 1 place simultaneously.  Imam Suyuti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has written in Al Qaulul Munjali Fi Tatawwuril Wali:

An issue was presented to me that in a gathering somebody said:  Shaykh ‘Abdul Qadir Tajtuti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) came to my house this night and stayed with me for the whole night.  Another person said:  What are you saying?  The Shaykh was in my house for the whole night.  The former person refused to accept this.  Both of them disagreed as to the veracity of the other’s words.  Eventually, they said on oath that if the Shaykh was not in my house then my wife is divorced!  The judgment was to be based on the Shaykh’s answer himself.

When the Shaykh was asked, he said:  Even if 4 people claim that I was present in their houses, their claims are correct.  The scholars started discussing as to whose wife was divorced.  Imam Suyuti ruled that nobody’s wife is divorced as one person can be present at more than 1 place at a time.

After this Imam Suyuti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) writes in the same book that Imam Tajuddin Subki (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has written about Abul ‘Abbas in Tabaqaat As Shaafi’al Kubra that he was a saintly person with miraculous powers.  His student ‘Abdul Ghaffar writes in his book Waheedat Ut Tauheed that on Friday, we were studying Hadith with the Shaykh and we were pleasured by the speech of the Shaykh.  A boy started making his ablutions.  The Shaykh asked him:  O Mubarak!  Where are you going?  He said:  To the mosque.  The Shaykh said:  By Allah!  I have offered Salaat.

When that boy reached the mosque, the Salaat was over and people were coming out of the mosque.  He asked the people and they said:  Shaykh Abul ‘Abbas is in the mosque and people are greeting him with Salaam!  On hearing this, the boy ran back and asked the Shaykh.  He replied:  Allah Most High has granted me this power.

It is also written that Safiuddin bin Abil Mansoor has written in his epistle that a strange incident about Shaykh Mufarrij happened here.  A person returned from Hajj and told someone:  I have seen Shaykh Mufarrij in the Plain of ‘Arafaat.  The other person said:  The Shaykh never left the area all this time.  Their talk escalated into an argument to the point that one of them said:  If I am lying, let my wife be divorced!  Both of them went to the Shaykh.  The Shaykh said:  Nobody’s wife has been divorced.  They asked:  If one of us is right, then the other’s wife will automatically be divorced.

Many scholars were present in this gathering.  The Shaykh told them:  You give the ruling on this.  All of them gave their opinions, but it was not enough.  At last, I (i.e. Imam Suyuti) was told to explain it.  I said:  When someone’s sainthood is established, that person can appear in any and every guise and through one’s spirituality that person can be present in multiple locations at the same time.  All these things are expressed with that person’s wish.  Thus, the face that was seen in ‘Arafaat is also true, and the face seen here is also true.  The Shaykh said:  This is the correct opinion.

It is also written that we have received a narration from some saints that people think that flying in the air is a great thing, which it is not.  What is great is that a person is in the east and the other is in the west and both of them desire to meet each other and gather at one place, meet and return and people see them sitting in their respective places, i.e. that they are simultaneously present in their respective places and go to some other place as well.

It is also written that Imam Yafa’i has written in Raudhur Riyaheen that a person finished his Hajj and returned home.  While talking with his brother, he told him:  This year, Sahl bin ‘Abdullah Tustri had also come for Hajj and I saw him in the plain of ‘Arafaat.

The brother told him:  But on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, he was present in his Rabaat, which is on the doorway of Tustar.  That man said:  I did see him in the Plain of ‘Arafaat.  If it is not so, then may my wife be divorced.  Both of them went to Hadhrat Sahl.  He said:  These things should not be inquired about.  He told the person who had taken the oath:  Your wife is not divorced from you, but don’t tell this to anyone else.

It is also written that Shaykh Khaleel Maliki has related a similar incident about Shaykh ‘Abdullah.  It is written in the life of Shaykh Abul ‘Abbas Moosa that a person invited the Shaykh to his house after the Friday Salaat.  The Shaykh accepted it.  One after the other, 5 other people invited the Shaykh at the same time as well.  The Shaykh accepted all their invitations.  After the Friday Salaat, the Shaykh went to his own house and didn’t go anywhere else.  Later, all the people who had invited the Shaykh came to the Shaykh and thanked him for coming to their houses.

It is written that a student of Shaykh Tajuddin bin Ataullah went for Hajj.  When he returned, he asked about the Shaykh.  He was told that the Shaykh is fine.  That student said that he had seen the Shaykh during the Hajj.  People said that the Shaykh had not left the area at all.  The student went to the Shaykh and asked him about it.  The Shaykh smiled and held his peace.
