If you don’t follow the commands of Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and be obedient to him, then remember, whatever happened with those who defied the Prophets (May peace be upon them) will be your lot as well. A’ad, Thamud and the relics of the community of Hadhrat Lut (May peace be upon him) are giving us this lesson. Whither pharaoh and his kingdom! Whither the earlier tyrants and their pomp and splendor! Do not ever think that the wrath of Allah Most High descended upon only these few nations and destroyed only them.
It is a principle with Allah Most High that wherever Prophets (May peace be upon them) are disobeyed, afflictions and adversities descend there! For instance, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, lightening, people getting buried in landslides, eruptions of volcanoes and flow of molten lava destroying cities and countries, droughts and inflation or foisting of a great enemy and being destroyed by it, etc.
Therefore, desist from disobeying the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) or else get ready for some punishment or the other.
One day Hadhrat Daniyal (May peace be upon him) passed through a desolate forest. There he saw a marble dome. He entered it and was surprised to see that that dome was adorned with gold, jewelry, precious stones etc. worth millions, but, there was no trace of a human being in it. He went a bit further and his eyes fell on a dais in the middle of which was a throne of gems and was carpeted in silk. On that throne was a human sized skeleton. On the right hand of that skeleton was a precious sword on which were inscribed the following words:
“I’m the last emperor of the nation of A’ad. I’ve ruled for almost 500 years and many other kings too were under my rule. I had 400 wives, from whom I got 400 sons and each one was the commander of the army. At no time did I suffer even a headache. In this condition, I exceeded myself in my disobedience of Allah. A Prophet came on behalf of Allah Most High and he counseled me a lot and warned me, but I my head was swollen with pride. How would his counsels affect me? Angered, I banished him from my county. As soon as he went, all the orchards, etc. were destroyed and the populace was killed, settlements were ravaged and all the grain was burnt. Only I am left. Starving for many days, I am in throes of death. In this condition, I advise others: O dwellers of this world! This world is but a fleeting glitter. Don’t ever be deceived by this world. Don’t fall prey to it and forget Allah Most High and disobey the prophet. Always be mindful of the transience of this world.
You are seeing what the world is coming to. Is there any sin which is not being committed? In what way are the Lord Almighty and His Prophet not being disobeyed? How much oppression is there in this world! Are there any limits to alcohol and substance abuse? Muslims are the highest in number among those who consume alcohol. Nobody listens to advice. Instead that person is mocked. There are displays of pride and haughtiness all around. People have forgotten the Lord Almighty and have fallen prey to Shirk (associating partners with Allah). People are doing useless things. Money is being wasted for the sake of name and fame. Justice has become extinct. People beat up whomever they want, they loot and kill anybody. If something is owed to someone, they threaten that person or beat him up and throw him out. If land or some other thing seems good, it is grabbed with the help of henchmen. No one dare object. Women are teased on the roads. Most of all, even after all this, people consider themselves good. Ridicule and mocking have become a part and parcel of every social gathering. Abuses are on the tip of the tongue. Adultery and sodomy have become rampant. People watch various types of dances, etc. There is no sense of difference between Halal and Haraam (permissible and forbidden). Breaching trust has become customary. People are being cheated in weighing. Rich people don’t give their Zakat. Salaat has been abandoned. Thus, the sins that existed in previous nations separately have now gathered in this nation. Even then no punishment descends on us! Certainly all forms of torments would have come by now, but one reason is withholding them. What is it? Listen to it directly from Allah Most High. He says: Nor would Allah torment them whilst they are engaged in supplicating Him for forgiveness and (O Esteemed Messenger,) We have not sent you but as a mercy for all the worlds. You are sent as mercy for the entire universe. How can mercy and torment exist together! Think for the sake of Allah Most High! Disobeying the One because of whom the punishment of Allah doesn’t overtake us! Will even this not anger Allah Most High? You know the wrath of Allah mg. He says: We have declared that that the nation which leaves the book of Allah and disobeys the Prophet, we put this nation under the power of its enemies and they torment them and humiliate them and embroil them in various difficulties. Alas our foolish thinking! We are not understanding this punishment.
Thus, be obedient to Allah Most High and His beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam), this world and the hereafter will be all yours. Otherwise, this world is ruined you will succeed in this world and in hereafter too. Or else not only ones world will get ruined, even the hereafter will be lost.
