Importance of being sincere


 
In the lessons on the famous Hadith compendium, Zujajatul Masabeeh, of Hadhrat Muhaddith-e-Deccan Abul Hasanaat Syed Abdullah Shah Sahab (May Allah shower His mercy on him), which are being held in Jame Masjid Siddiq e Akbar in Toli Chowki, Hyderabad, in, Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi said that a Momin should perform all his activities with a good intention and sincerity, as those acts/deeds, which are performed with a good intention and sincerity, they are honored with acceptance by Allah Ta’ala.  For this reason, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) says:
 
 
 
Translation of Hadith:  Acts are with their intentions.  Each human being will get what he intends for.  Whoever performs Hijrat (i.e. migrates) for the sake of Allah Ta’ala and His Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), his migration will be towards Allah Ta’ala and His Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and whoever leaves his country to acquire this world or to marry a woman, then his intention will be towards these acts.
 
 
 
Hadhrat Mufti Sahab said that apart from Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, this Hadith is also present in the Musnad of Imam A’adham Abu Hanifa.
 
 
 
In light of the importance of good intentions and sincerity, the Muhadditheen (Hadith experts) have started their books with this Hadith.  Intention is the resolve of the heart.
 
 
 
The reward is given as per the intention of the worshipper.  Mufti Sahab said that Muslims should avoid showing off, as those acts, which are done only for showing off, they don’t gain acceptance and all the deeds are wasted. 
 
 
 
There is a Hadith in Jame’ Tirmidhi:
 
 
 
Translation of Hadith: A Sahabi says that I presented myself to Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) and requested him to teach me Hadith.  When he started to relate the Hadith, such emotion overcame him that he fainted with sobs.  When he recovered, he said:  I will teach you that Hadith, which I heard from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) at this place.  He swooned many times.  When he recovered, he said:
 
 
 
On the Day of Judgment, 3 people will be brought before Allah Ta’ala, one the person who was given the knowledge of the Holy Quran, second, the person who was martyred in the path of Allah Ta’ala and third, the person who was wealthy.
 
 
 
Then Allah Ta’ala will ask the recited of the Holy Quran:  Did I not teach you the Word, which I had revealed to my Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)?  He will say:  Yes!  It will be said:  How did you act upon that knowledge.  He will say:  I would recite it day and night.  It will be said:  You are a liar.  Even the angels will say:  You are liar.  Allah Ta’ala will say:  You desired that it be said that such and such a person is recite of the Holy Quran.  That has been said for you.  The wealthy person will be told:  I had given affluence through wealth.  I did not make you depend on anyone.  
 
He will say:  Yes!  It will be said:  How did you use the wealth, which I had granted?  He will say:  I treated my relatives nicely and kept giving charity.  Allah Ta’ala will say:  You lie.  The angels will also say:  You are a liar.  You desired that it be said that such and such a person is very generous and that has already been said.  Then the martyr will be called and will be asked:  Why were you killed?  He will say:  You ordered me to perform Jihad in your path.  Therefore, I did so until I was killed.  Allah Ta’ala will say:  You lie.  The angels will also say:  You lie.  Your intention was that it be said that so and so a person is very brave and this has been said.  Then the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  O Abu Hurairah!  From the creation of Allah Ta’ala, the fire of hell will first be stirred with these three.  (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 2557)
