Major sins and hypocrisy-I

Major sins and hypocrisy

What are the worst sins?

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be well pleased with him) that a person asked:  O Prophet of Allah, which sin is the worst in the sight of Allah Most High?  The Prophet said:  That you associate a partner with Allah Most High, although He has created you.  The man asked:  After this, which?  The Prophet said:  Killing your children out of the fear that they will eat with you (i.e. that you would have to provide for them as well).  The man asked:  Then which?  The Prophet said:  Fornicating with the wife of your neighbor.

Those who do not call upon others along with Allah Most High and do not murder the one whose murder Allah has prohibited, but for a just cause (like execution, etc.), neither do they fornicate.

Bukhari and Muslim have unanimously related this Hadith.

There are 4 major sins

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Major sins are 4:  (1) Associating partners with Allah Most High, (2) disobeying parents, (3) murdering someone and (4) taking a false oath.

Bukhari has related this Hadith.

In the narration on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him), in place of taking false oath, bearing false witness is mentioned.

Bukhari and Muslim have unanimously related this Hadith.

Seven things are fatal

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Desist from the 7 things, which are fatal.  People asked:  O Prophet of Allah, what are those 7 things?  The Prophet said:  (1) Ascribing partners to Allah, (2) sorcery, (3) murdering someone killing whom Allah Most High has prohibited, (4) taking usury, (5) embezzling the wealth of orphans, (6) running away from Jihaad and (7) falsely accusing virtuous, innocent, naïve Muslim women of adultery.

Bukhari and Muslim have unanimously related this Hadith.
