Paying Respects to Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) by Hadhrat Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz

The title of “Qutb Al Mashaaikh” from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

The great Khwaja himself writes in “Anees Ul Arwaah” his collection of the sayings of his master, Hadhrat Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him):  This humble slave of Allah, M’uinuddin Hasan Sanjari went to Baghdad and searched for Hadhrat Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni.  People said that he had gone to Masjid Hadhrat Junaid Baghdadi for offering Salaat.  on hearing this, I went to the mosque of Hadhrat Khwaja Junaid Baghdadi (May Allah sanctify His secret) and was honored with meeting my savior, my master Hadhrat ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah sanctify his secret).  At this time, many great Shaykhs were present there.

My master asked me to offer 2 Raka’at of Salaat.  I obeyed his order.  He stood up, held my hand and turned his face to the sky and said:  O Lord!  I entrust him to you.

After this, he started for Makkah from Makkah with this pauper (Faqeer) with him.  He took me to the Ka’aba on foot and prayed for the felicity of this pauper.  A voice was heard:  We have accepted M’uinuddin Hasan Sanjari.

After that, he went to Madina.  I was with him.  When we reached the blessed grave of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), I was ordered: Greet the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) with Salaam.  I did so.  A voice was heard from the blessed grave:  Walaikum As Salaam, o pole of the Shaykhs (Qutb Al Mashaaikh).  After this voice was heard, my master told me:  Now your affairs have reached perfection.  (Hayaat Khwaja, 20/21)

It has been related that one day, Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him) summoned the Khwaja to special assembly.  At this time, many great Shaykhs were present.  The Khwaja went there.  The spiritual mentor said:  O M’uinuddin!  Perform ablution and offer 2 Raka’at.  The Khwaja fulfilled the order of his master.  He then sat facing the Qibla and recited Surah Baqarah and then recited Durood on the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) 21 times.  After that, Hadhrat Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him) held his hand and raised his face to the sky and said:  O M’uinuddin!  I have joined you with Allah Most High and have made you the beloved of the Lord Almighty.

Then the blessed head of the Khwaja was shaved and a Chaar Tarki cap was placed on his head………….Hadhrat Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him) ordered the Khwaja to recite Surah Ikhlaas 1000 times.  When he did that, Khwaja ‘Uthman (May Allah shower His mercy on him) said:  Raise your head and see.  When Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) raised his head, he saw everything from the Grand Throne (‘Arsh) of Almighty Allah to the very bowels of the earth.  Khwaja Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him) then said:  Recite Surah Ikhlaas 1000 times and see again.  When the Khwaja did so, Khwaja ‘Uthman asked him:  What do you see?  The Khwaja answered:  Now I see the Veil of Grandeur (Hijaab-e-Azmat).  Khwaja ‘Uthma (May Allah shower His mercy on him) said:  O M’uniuddin!  Thank Allah.  You have achieved your objective.  He then said:  See that brick lying over there?  Bring it to me.  The moment Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) picked it up, it turned to gold.  His master then ordered him to distribute it among the poor and the needy.  The Khwaja did so that very instant.  He then stayed with his master and served him for 20 years.  Whenever, there was a journey, Khwaja Ghareebnawaz (May Allah shower His mercy on him) would carry the articles of Hadhrat Khwaja ‘Uthman Haruni (May Allah shower His mercy on him).  (Hayaat-e-Khwaja, Pg. No. 23/24)

Paying his respects to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

The author of Khazeenatul Asfiya writes that when the Khwaja left with the good wishes of his spiritual mentor, he toured the surrounding countries, he helped the needy on the way and quenched the thirst of those hungry for knowledge and gnosis.  Wherever, he would become famous, the Khwaja would secretly leave that place.  In this manner, he reached the Holy Ka’aba and from there, he went to Madina and was honored with visiting the sacred grave of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  One day, a voice was heard from the sacred grave of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam): Bring M’uinuddin Hasan Chishti.  Thus, the attendants took the Khwaja to the blessed grave of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  At that time, the Khwaja was in a strange state.  He went crying and weeping and reciting Durood and stood before the sacred grave of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) with utmost respect.  He heard a divine voice:  O Pole of the Shaykhs!  Come closer.  The Khwaja stepped forward ecstatically and was honored with the transcendental beauty of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  He was ordered:  O M’uniuddin!  You are the special guide of our religion.  It is imperative that you go to India and there is a city called Ajmer there.  Through you, the beacon of Islam will be lit there.  The Khwaja said:  I am at your service with all my heart, but I don’t know anything about India and Ajmer.  Where should I go?  Thus, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) guided him towards Ajmer.  As per the orders of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the Khwaja went there with 40 disciples and associates.  (Hayaat-e-Khwaja, Pg. No. 29)
