Some incidents of Hadhrat 'Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) and the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

It is mentioned in Shifa and its commentary that Hadhrat ‘Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  Once I fell really ill and came to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  The intensity of the pain was such that I was supplicating that if I die, I will get relief from this pain and if it doesn’t come, cure me and if it is a test, then I should be granted patience.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) listen to this, blessed me and tapped me with His foot.  After that, that pain never troubled me.

It was the effect of that tap with the foot that a fatal pain was driven away.  It was the effect of the blessed foot of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) which affected his body.

There is a Hadith in Khasaais-e-Kubra on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he says:  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) sent someone somewhere.  He came back and said:  O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)!  My camel has fatigued me.  She doesn’t get up at all.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went there and struck it with His foot.  Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) swears by it that after that she would outpace the camels at the forefront.

It was the effect of His foot that such a camel became so energetic.

It is written in Shams Ut Tawareekh, etc. that Hadhrat ‘Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) stayed in Makkah for 3 days after the emigration of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  He returned the articles entrusted to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), left Makkah and started for Madina.  At night, he would walk and in day, he would hide somewhere.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was still at Quba that he joined them.  Because of walking, his feet were covered with boils and there was much pain.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) passed His hand over his feet and said a prayer.  The pain was relieved that very moment.

Even though Hadhrat ‘Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) is the Imam of the saints and miracles like these are expressed at his own hands.  But before the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), his presence was like the moon, stars, etc. before the sun.  For this reason, he couldn’t remove this complaint unless and until the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) held his hand.
