The incident of Bishr bin Muawiya bin Thaur

It is given in Kitab Ul Fadhaail of Kanz Ul ‘Ummal that Bishr bin Mu’awiya (May Allah be well pleased with him) that his father Mu’awiya bin Thaur brought him to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and told him to ask only 3 things, neither more nor less.

First say, Assalaamalaikum Ya Rasoolallah.  Then say: O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)!  I and other have come only to pay our respects to you.  Then say:  You please pray for felicity (Barakah) for me.  After this request, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) placed His hand on my head and prayed for felicity for me.  The narrator says:  The place where the hand of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) touched became radiant and this effect was developed in him that whatever he would touch would become well.  Subhan Allah!  Sincerity is dripping from these words which the father taught to his son.  Coming only to pay respects from far off is a sign of sincerity.  Then the request that he asked for really set the seal on everything.  Felicity (Barakah) is such a thing that it includes the good of this world and the hereafter.  The dictionaries define the word, “Barakah” as felicity and prosperity.  If one has felicity and prosperity in everything that one does, then what else does one need?  The effects of this prayer will remain eternal.  The immediate effect of this was that whatever defect, be it in man or in beast, he would touch, it would be gone.  This was the grandeur of Prophethood that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) didn’t tell him that through my touch, you have been blessed and that whatever you touch will become good.  In spite of all this, these effects were expressed by the will of Almighty Allah.

In our times, Mirza Ghulam Qadiani has moved heaven and earth to prove that he is a prophet.  He has made the deduction that the verse of the Holy Quran in which Hadhrat ‘Eisa (May peace be upon him) gives glad tidings of the coming of “Ahmed” is him….Thus, Ghulam Qadiani swore that the Lord has told me that I will be married to the daughter of Mirza Ahmed Baig.  If she is married to someone else, the girl’s father and husband will die within 3 years.  He also expressed a divine inspiration about “Atham” that “Mr. Atham” will die within 15 months.  If he doesn’t, then my face should be blackened.  A rope should be put around my neck and I should be hanged to death.  In spite of all this, he didn’t die and faced him off for years.  Unprejudiced people should differentiate between true and false Prophethood with this.

It is easy to churn out yarns.  One could say that it is not the mistake of Mirza but the Lord Almighty lied, because one group of Maulvies have ruled that Almighty Allah can lie as well.  But those people who recognize the stature of the Lord Almighty and the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) will never be satisfied with it.

It is to be noted that that the area where the sacred hand was placed turned radiant.  It is obvious that there was no mechanism of light in the blessed hand of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that one might say that it was cast into him.  Then where was that eternal radiance coming from?  This can’t be understood unless and until one believes that Almighty Allah intends that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) should always be remembered in this world with respect and dignity and there shouldn’t be any parallel to Him.
