Sahabah - Guiding lights for us

The lives of the Sahabah are a great example for us.

The lives and the character of the Sahabah is an example and guiding light for us. Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) has declared the Iman (faith) as the standard and touchstone. Only that person is on the right path whose Aqida and Iman (faith) is as per the Aqida and faith of the Sahabah.

Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) has ordered us to respect and honor the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). The Sahabah used to respect and honor the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in such a way that it is impossible to present any other parallel to it. Even the Non-Muslims would say that it is impossible to face those people who respect their Prophet this much.

In Hudaibiyah, after seeing the respect which the Sahabah had for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), ‘Urwah Bin Mas'ud Thaqafi went back and told his people (he was an envoy for the Quraish):

I have seen the courts of the great kings of the world, but I have never seen any king’s courtiers respecting their king as much the Sahabah of Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) respect Him. By God! When He cleans His nose, before the water touches the ground, the Sahabah take it in their hands and rub in on their faces and bodies. When He talks, they lower their voices.

Seeing the Sahabah’s respect for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), even the enemies decided to make peace. The Sahabah would come before the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as models of respect. Once Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (May Allah be well pleased with him) was leading the Salaat. He got to know that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has arrived. Immediately, he came back. After the Salaat when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) asked him, he said: How dare the Abu Quhafa offer Salaat in front of You.
