Why do we need the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

O forgetful human!  The way you have forgotten us, in the same way, you have forgotten yourself.  If you had reflected a bit, then you would have known us and our power and majesty would have emerged before your eyes.  You would have known how powerful We are? With one 'be' (Kun in Arabic), we have created the whole universe and made your figure from dust (soil).  Whatever you needed, we have granted.  This shows our knowledge that how knowledgeable (Aleem) we are?  What a connoisseur we are that we made someone like you my friend and we ourselves became your friend.  But alas!  You are very ungrateful.

The way an ungrateful slave, on seeing the benevolence of the master, becomes bold and starts competing with the master and does not fulfill the rights of the master, in the same way, because of our benevolence, you deny us and always go against us.

O helpless human!  It seems you have forgotten who you are and you do not remember your own helplessness.  Is there anyone more helpless than you are?  Just look at your own self?  Where did you come from?  You were soil and semen when you came into this world.  You were so helpless, that you could not even whisk away a fly.  On coming into youth, you have started denying your master and opposing Him?

Even now, just look inside yourself.  Your stomach is full of excreta, your bladder is full of urine, veins/arteries are full of blood, nose is filled with mucus, ears with wax, mouth with saliva.  It is as if skin has been folded over filth.

O human!  Such a thing comes out of you that you wash it with your own hands, whose sight disgusts you and whose smell nauseates you.

Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) has said: A woman comes to you with all kinds of adornments and you leave everything and desire her genitalia.  Just think!  How your thinking ha become fixated on uncleanliness and filth.

Various diseases are after you.  If a single fiber of your body gives pain, you can't set it right and you become helpless.  See! This is your outward state.

Just look at your inward state! You will understand that you are an animal or a beast.  There is darkness of the desires of food, sex and other desires of the flesh or characteristics of a beastly nature.  However, there is one thing with you, before which even angels are nothing.  Only because of this your fame has spread out.  What is that?  It is the heart.  But alas!  You have turned the only thing which makes you valuable into a blackened piece of coal.  You have turned your face away from the Lord.  Your heart is stuck in this world.  When you come before the Lord, you come like this:

And (you will wonder at them) if you see the sinners hanging down their heads before the Presence of their Lord........   Surah Sajdah (32:12)

O human!  This state of yours is unbearable.  For this reason, to shake up the heedless, to turn animals into humans, to make beasts peaceful, to turn blackened hearts into radiant ones, a radiance arose from the lap of Hadhrat Amina (May Allah be well pleased with her) and awoke the sleeping; shook up the heedless and declared: People! You are not animals, don’t turn into one.  You are not beasts, abandon beastly nature.  You did not come here with blackened hearts.  Your heart was pure.  You came here to make it shine, to make it radiant, to turn it into a reflection of the Lord, so you make your heart into so.
