An example of the boundless mercy of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Epitome of mercy and blessings:

Even Hadhrat Abu Talib (May Allah be well pleased with him) served the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) well.  He would prefer Him over his own children.  He always kept Him with him.  At mealtimes, he would have Him eat along with him and he himself says:  That exquisite pearl, through whom rains would be sought, if at any time, He was not present on the too has said the Precious origin of Him pleads for mercy, if sometimes He wouldn't be present for the meal, then in spite of the food being adequate, it would be insufficient for everyone.  If that epitome of mercy would sit along with us, then even with small amount of food everybody would eat to their heart's content.  (Sharh Mawahib-e-Ladunniya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 354; Subul Ul Huda War Rashad, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 135)

The absolute authority and boundless generosity of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

The people of Arab were struck by a drought.  Everybody was worried and bewildered.  Everybody pleaded before their idols, which they themselves had made, but to no avail.  The people were worried about this when an elderly person said: O people, the progeny of the builder of the Holy Ka'aba, Hadhrat Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) is present.  Let us present our pleas at their doors.  Hence, they went to Hadhrat Abu Talib and presented their pleas to him that the whole jungle is in the grips of a famine.  The fire of drought has turned the whole city to ashes.  The children are restless for food, they are crying out of thirst they were imploring.  Not only human beings, even the animals are disturbed.  They are craving for grass indeed and are near death.

Hadhrat Abu Talib heard the plea and to answer to it, he took the Mercy of the Worlds to with him to the Holy Ka'aba.  He made the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) sit with His back touching the Ka'aba.  Then the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), gestured with His finger towards the sky.  Suddenly, clouds gathered from all sides and it rained to such an extent that the whole of Arabia was saturated.  The lands became green, the crops started swaying once again and everywhere there was an atmosphere of joy and happiness.  (Mawahib-e-Ladunniya, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 335; Subul Ul Huda War Rashad, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 137)
