On whom is Salaat Ul Juma Wajib

There are 6 conditions that make Salaat Ul Jum’a Wajib (compulsory):

1.  To be a native.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on a traveler.

2.  To be healthy.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on someone who is ill.  Similarly, it is not Wajib on that caretaker as well, who is he goes away, there will be no one to take care of the ill person.

3.  To be free.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on a slave.

4.  To be a male.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on females.

5.  To be able to walk.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on a lame person if the lameness prevents him from going to the Jame’ Masjid.

6.  To be able to see.  Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib on a blind person.

If somebody who is a traveler or ill or slave or a lady or a blind person offers Salaat Ul Jum’a as it ought to be done, then the Salaat is valid i.e. their Fardh of Salaat Ul Zuhr will be considered fulfilled.

For those on Salaat Ul Jum’a is not Wajib, it is better to offer Salaat Ul Jum’a than Salaat Ul Zuhr excepting for ladies.  For them, it is better to offer Salaat Ul Zuhr only.

Note:  Apart from the above mentioned conditions, the other conditions for Salaat in general, like being sane, being of age, etc. and the conditions for Salaat with congregation are also binding for Salaat Ul Jum’a.
